Hey all. I recently decided to build up a messenger bike for the city and came up with throwing slicks on a mountain frame. I'm a young guy who has ridden mtb's all his life so I had to go for a mtn 26" frame My question is... If I choose to ride/ possibly race with my college road team, do you think I could be successfull riding a very light mtn framed 26" wheeled roadbike?

ceterus paribus, 27" road wheels are 4% more efficient.

if you love racing, then you should get a bike built for it

If Johnny T can racee a road bike on the dirt, you can race a mountain bike on the road.

1" tires and beef up the front chainrings. That will get you closer to where you will want to be.
