Ok, I need a bit of help here. My cranks were creaking so I've taken them apart, wiped down the interface and put a bit of grease on.

Put it all back together (I hope the right way!) but I can't seem to locate the bolt-on chainring quite right - the chain will be pulled completely taut at one point and totally slack 180 degrees later in the rotation. Is there a simple way to adjust the positioning to ensure an even tension throughout a rotation?

short answer...no, long answer, its a common problem on bmx bikes. usually due to chainrings being slightly off center...if its really bad try and get a hold of another chainring and see if that fixes the problem. otherwise you could measure and see.

Was there a spacer/sizer ring on your chainring when you removed it? And if so did you remember to put it back on?
