yes possible. its apparently pretty hard. instead of having feet on pedals you are sitting on saddle like doing a no footer, but riding a manual. takes jedi balance.
Eactly. Coaster wheelie with both feet off. He started at the top of the parking lot above the slalom course and went down the pavement, around the resort and over to the grass at the end of the expo finishing at the volleyball courts. Some of it is on an old racing vid.

Palmer had a death wish. At the bar, he was talking trash to big juice heads for no reason while we were sitting there. Everybody was pulling for Jordan and he decided to pick Utah randomly and cheer and jeer. Watched him intentionally graze shoulders on his way to the bathroom. He was funny to watch at the time and you sorta wanted to see him get into a melee', but in hindsight it's depressing his level of self destruction.

As for the rumor of Lopes neutering rock gardens, I neve witnessed it. But on race day, the thud thud thud bonk of the final rock garden was a frickin' sidewalk. Somebody played castle in there for sure.;)

Anybody got video of Voulloiz (on his DH bike) losing to Lopes by a fraction in slalom at Deer Valley? It's the year Peat won DH on a GT DHi riding a no footed tank slapper to the finish.

Speaking of '97, look what I found last night. This was at Mt. Snow the week after the 7Springs incident if I got the year right. The photographer was a little late and caught me just as I was touching down. Love the old equipment - brings back fond memories (nightmares?). Does anyone recognize some of the components?

I shot that, some day I will convert all that old tape to digi.

Although 90% of my personal vid tapes are all partying and mayhem, not much racing.

Great pic. Even though it's an old pic, it looks suprisingly modern.

Well you got the Zyzyx, some Magura rims brakes and what looks like an old school NukeProof front hub. IRC tire for sure, the red sidewall gives it away. Either an El Gato, Missile or Piranah

I've got a photo from the same spot, though the photog got me in the air. I'll have to dig that up.

Zyzzx...when wet sucks in water. Seizes. Manitou did not get that memo and the first year production model did the same. Our entire "team" had theirs seize at Snowshoe Nats. To their credit, they rebuilt all of them...and Stik let me use his soap to clean it up first.

Magura Hydro rim brakes (meaning you most likely ran Rhyno Lite XL's). They are not the Tomac's which were neon orange, not yellow.

Lake SPD's. Seems like Herndon had those. Can't see too clear.

IRC Kujo's? But I'm thinking Kujo's were red...making this Missiles.

Nukeproof carbon sheel front hub?

If the bars where black, they were Azonic/Kore/Control Tech?

Giro $350 Madmax (seriously...why was it expensive??)

Scary Fast Rocket Parts ankle socks? Defeet obviously

Fox Pawtectors gloves (or maybe the SRAM's they handed out to everybody)

Fox BMX pants with the special poof pad in the shin

Grip Shifty SHORTY with clear gear indicator

how'd I do???

Zyzzx - that was an easy one
Magura Hydros
NOT Lake spds - another guess?
Missiles
Nuke Proof Carbon
Azonic World Cups - wide for the day.
Giro Madmax
Those are actually Rock Shox socks
Azonic gloves (although I believe I had Qranks around that time as well)
Fox Push pants
Grip Shift - loved it back then

Not Bad!

Zyzzx - their mechanic (obviously from Socal and never experience rain) drilled the bottom of the forks to relieve air pressure and improve performance. In the rain at 7Springs they would completely lock out by the bottom. I had to rebuild them after each run.

Now...do mine:

Mt. Snow 98 (click to make BIG)

Seven Springs 98 - year of March's launch
DH
Magura Hydro rim brakes (meaning you most likely ran Rhyno Lite XL's). They are the Tomac's which were neon orange, not yellow.
White Bros Fork (forget the model)
er, is that a water bottle cage hanging below the downtube?
I suck at this - that's about all I can get

Slalom
Judy
Shimano V-brakes
IRC
I suck again.

but the socks were from Defeet. :D
That depends. They also had this special ed retard from Georgia that I "think" was buddies with Pinson they hired to drive the truck around. I believe the best word for him was wastoid?

Did you have a bottle cage on the downtube?
Never know when a DH would have a long, extended climb back then. If you'll notice, my chain is missing. Actually, I could pop the single ring off, throw on my triple rings and lock the Stratos Helix shock out remotely. Seat tower had 2 positions and the rear linkage had 3 positions, identical to the M1.

Ya know, when I found the pic last night I thought the same thing and was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately the other pic I found definitely does NOT look modern. Luckily I didn't find the one from Georgia racing DH in lycra on an XC hardtail with a 150mm stem.

Every time I hear that name I think of the night camping at Mt. Snow overhearing a conversation that sounded straight out of the Waterboy but with a big DDAAAANNGGG thrown in every couple of words. Hilarious, but i better stop there.

Which year was that? I had to have been right there... hahaha
Was it the year that we got caught stealing a truck load of specially cut firewood from the condos and having a mega fire at haystack, and being
called out by the cops and made to return and pay for it? Later to be caught again by same cop burning a twenty foot long bench that was laying around?
Then being threatened to jail while we had thrown like 5 M-80's into said fire and just waiting for them to explode mid bitch session. Scared him shirtless!
Which resulted in us getting kicked out of the Campground for the year.

The Next year Pinson and I set up camp near friends and had this couple mid 30's (with small child) poach up on our (set up) spot while we were away.
We came back and Pinson parked right up on their tent "really close" we had a swap meet selling parts with the jam up top level til dark. The couple went to bed at dark and we went to the bar with some crazy dude in a fast car. After thinking we were going to die before we made it back to camp, These two egged each other on at 3a.m. doing donuts all over the parking lot... while yelling obscenities and jamming to the max! Then we drifted up to our camping spot where Eric climbed on top of the van and sang bark at the moon and did so! for a while... The next morning the couple and their kid walked over to the van to tap on the windows and wake Pinson up "early" to their surprise they were standing in something wet??? He had drank alot and it came back up! hahahaha classic! Cops showed up at 7.00 a.m. to escort us out and were perm. banned from haystack!

This thread is awesome! The Seven Springs 98 was my first National. That was a sick Slalom course built by Jay Dejesus. Killer times back then! So many fun and funny things happened in my travels back then. Too many tales that can't be discussed here!

Farmer Brown was the name to be exact! The Fla. crew ripped Farmer was one of the fastest Masters back then. Hung out with the Bethea Bros.

'97 or '98, it was all a little fuzzy. I only camped there one night as my buddy ended up staying with his friends and I ended up in my van in front front of another persons condo and then passed out on a couch next to Shaums another night.

That group was having a good time though at the campground - must have been 8-10 people around a fire.

I was in FL at the time and knew Farmer but he was from a little further south so didn't really ride with him except at local races.
