not in Whistler anymore :/
I'm planning a 7 riding day trip to Portes du Soleil but I'm already looking for a 2026 trip.

Based on my short 4h/60km downhill session in Les Deux Alpes a good option could be:
Les Deux Alpes (3 days) / Alpes d'Huez (3 days) / La Grave (1 day). The base camp could be either in Les2Alpes or Huez I guess - doesn't maybe matter. In the previous list, some small places could be worth visiting but I'm not sure if it's worth the time.

Does anyone have good data on how Portes du Soleil compare to Les2Alpes and Huez?
la grave is worth a multi day stay imho, been there last year for 2 days. there's at least riding for 3-4 days to be found there alone these days, they added a lot new tracks since we visited there 2008

I went there last summer but without a bike. That's where the idea came from. Didn't know that there were trails. Seems awesome place. Some Germans were riding there and said that it takes 1h 15min to ride down. Sounds legit.

I went to Saalbach in 2019 and Livigno in 2023.

I had a great time and I'd go back to either place in a heartbeat. Next Euro biking trip will probably be to Val di Fassa or Finale. Starting point has to be from Munich and within a reasonable driving distance, so that unfortunately puts most of the French goodness a bit too far.

I've ended up to this kind of potential plans:
  • From Geneva to Portes du Soleil
  • From Lyon / Geneva to Les deux Alpes / Alpe d'Huez / La Grave
  • From Lyon / Geneva to Les Trois Vallées: Belleville / Meribel
  • From Munich to Austria: not sure where to go to cover a couple of bike parks at the same time. Sölden looks good on the Trailforks map (>600m vertical)
Renting a van (one that you can use to transport your bikes, not a human carrier) seems to be very expensive at Geneva Airport.

If you're going pds I'd check out bernex since you're only 40 mins from it. Great place and the drive there is fun

Last year i spent some days in the Trois Vallees area, around Meribel. For people with an enduro bike it's highly recommended, however the best trails are the ones that run all the way down to brides-les-bain, and then you have to take a bus back up the valley.

A week in Les Arcs was also great, they have some very nice secrets singletracks through the woods of you ask around. We had a little chalet in Bourg St Maurice.

Les Deux Alpes is balls, because all it has is flowy tracks with berms ;)

Jamie, I think you've probably already been to most places people will mention. We went off the beaten track a bit this year, and I can highly recommend St Pierre de Chartreuse, Todtnau, Bad Wildbad, Crans Montana & Lac Blanc. You wouldn't want to spend more than 2 days at any of them (1-4 trails each), but they're each DEFINITELY worth a visit.
Been 16 years since I lved just down the road from Todtnau, but it was a bit shit back then.
I'd love to visit some of the towns they used for EWS in Italy.... they look pretty fun!

Sure, let's add La Thuile to that list. Steepest place I've been. No flowtrails, only red and black enduro and downhill tracks. Les Arcs and Bourg St Maurice are just a valley away, bikepark pila too
