Has anyone ever put an 8.75”x2.75” shock in a 02-04 Giant DH in place of the original 9”x2.75”?

I would like to replace the RS Pro Deluxe with a FOX DHX5 in my DH Team, but the closest they come in is 8.75”x2.75”. I have checked and there is enough movement to allow the slightly shorter length shock. It would drop the bb a bit but that would be good as it’s already about 15.5”.

So, has any one every done it or herd of it being done?

You wouldn't want to put a shock on your bike that doesn't fit. I would suggest getting a Romic, since you would have to take your shock out everytime you need to put air in it. My friend has a Romic on his Giant, and it feels soooooooooo plush...

A couple guys in the DH forum ran that setup a couple years ago. Post there and you'll get some good info. What you're asking is a good question.
