I used to have a/c on all the time, but after the a/c compressor on my celica started going down ( it felt like I tapped the brakes slightly when I turn it on while moving) so I got used to windows down.
Now I drive with my windows down for the sake of hearing the intake/turbo of my GTI on back roads..
They also didn't go over what, 35mph? Hardly enough for the aerodynamic advantage of windows up to take place. they need to do the test at 65 and then report back the results.
Unfortunately that test has so many variables. If your engine is turning at 3200 RPM and making lots of power, the AC compressor is going to be relatively minor of an impact. If you're at 1200 it's going to be a big power draw. How efficient is the system? How are the windows designed? What if you have those sill protectors?
I think it's a push, unless you do it yourself on your own car the way you drive.
