Building an uprising, and recovering from a knee rebuild, so i am a bit weak at the moment. I also live in an area that while not having super long climbs, has incredible steep climbs, most of them are on pavement to the trails. (house at the bottom of a small mountain)
I used to ride a trance, with a 32T single ring, and a 36 1st gear.
Now on the bigger bike, i would like to go with a 2 by 10. I would have to run a 30t ring or less, which i will outspin easliy on some of the descents. therefore, i would like to run a 28/36
1st, i have been looking around, and unable to find many companies that sell chainrings, and they have to be shifting chainrings i believe.
2nd, I plan to use an E13 TRX chainguide, so ideally, i will get the maximum amount of teeth that the 36T version can hold, the tighter the chain to the roller, the less likely the chance for the chain to drop off the rings. The Descents here get very rough, so i think that its a big task for the guide, especially if its a small granny gear.
3rd. if nobody directly makes a 28/36 pairing, can i mix and match? Is there a special ratio that forces me to use one of the already "set" pairings companies offer?
help plz
