Hey all -- Mobius and I are comin' out your way in early July on the way to Whistler and were thinking of hitting some of the Hood River trails.... anybody got a good shop in the area where we might find somebody to point us towards a trail or two?

Or on the other hand anybody want to point us towards a trail or two? We'll probably be there July 6-7 or so, so if anyone else is as much of a slacker and doesn't have obligations we'd love to hook somethin' up...

post in the portland thread! i'll unfortunately be at work, but maybe some of the schoolkids :D can show you around, heh. there are at least two shops in hood river itself, discover and mountain view.

if you go there and buy a map you'll be halfway there, with the other half figuring out how you can shuttle up to the top.

Toshi pretty much sums it up, the GFRA map shows almost all of the trails at PC that are ridable. Get one from either shop and get a ride to the top of the hill (go up Rhiordian road- past post canyon road) and you'll be good.

awesome... map sounds like a good idea. Can you climb to the top of PC or is that kinda masochistic?

you could climb, but it's a long way up, and the fun stuff is near the top so you don't want to cut out halfway...

Yeah, PC is best enjoyed with the assistance of a shuttle rig. There's so much stuff that's not connected, you would spend half the day pushing.

I could probably be a slacker for one or both of those days and get out of working to show you around a bit. If your interested give me a PM or something... im always looking for an excuse to not work and ride instead. To get an idea of what the trails are like up there you can look at the GFRA website. http://www.gfra.org
