Deep in the Jungles of Oklahoma
- 1976 FORD LTD (2 years of service, lots of cash wasted in repairs, mostly radiator and carb)

- 1984 Monte Carlo SS (3 years of service several thousand in parts to make it faster, including a new engine)

- 1991 Nissan Sentra (2 years of service, what an ugly boring car that thing was, no problems though)

- 1988 Acura Legend 2 door sport coup (3 years of service, lots of brake problems, tranny finally died and I couldnt afford to fix)

- 1985 Chevy S-10 Blazer (6-8 months, total POS, emergency replacement for the Acura)

- 1992 Honda Passport (1.5 years, emergency POS replacement for the S10 which was stolen. Passport cost more in repairs than it did to buy it)

- 2003 Hundai Elantra GT (1 year and counting, quality replacement to the POS Passport)

Overindulgent parents, man..........

I mean, as a parent, what better excuse to get *yourself* a new car?

"I'll just hand down this 3yo Jaguar to Johnny and get myself a brand new Porsche" :p

That said, I hope gas is *SO* expensive by the time my boys' drive that they'll all have to ride their bikes everywhere............ actually I'd like it that happened to *me* too. :thumb:

1984 toyota pickup sr5 (only car I've had (drove parents in HS))

I love it. I roll start it 1 out of 3 times it seems. But its dieing. burns about a quart of oil every 250 miles or so.... and I gotta get it smogged this month =[ Kinda like watching a loved one slip slowly into a terminal illness.

my dad says he wants to give me his acura TL. its a sweet car but I know I'd miss my craptastic truck

i find it funny that the car you hated the most was also the car you had the longest (not counting the '68 camaro as i'm assuming it wasn't yr everyday drive around car).

I had a girlfriend who lived in a ritzy area, and the norm was that when your kid turned 16, you bought them a current-year vehicle. This girl got the first year Honda CRV when she turned 16. Her neighbor got a convertible Mustang.

Her best friend totalled THREE of the sporty Lexus coups before her parents got smart and quit buying her a replacement Lexus... and bought her a Jeep Grand Cherokee instead

I think it's very much a location thing... My high school parking lot was full of P.O.S. cars.

my across the street neighbor's got 2 kids in high school. one drives an '02 or '03 volvo S40, the other some sort of late model nissan sentra or altima.

does no one take the bus anymore? even the large majority middle school kids seem to get driven to school w/ their parents.
