Hey I'm looking to head up to highland this summer, upon relaying this information to my family, my mother informed me she had wanted an opportunity/excuse to ride in NH as well. She's not a mountain biker by any means and just likes to ride rail-trails etc. I was wondering if there was any of this riding around the mountain? Originally she had wanted to go to Portsmouth but that's an hour from the mountain so I was hoping there might be something closer to the hill...

The short answer is no. The easiest trails I think would still be too much for someone like that. I was there on saturday and a group of guys rented bikes, One of they guys was a pure old school XC/ride around town guy and did one run down Meadows (The easiest trail) and called it quits. First time I've ever heard it happen but I wouldn't risk your Mom having a bad day!
