My recommendations would be the same as for XP. You can stick with AVG if you like it, or Avast is good as well.

Shut up and ride...
I've been having some REAL good luck with TrendMicro internet security. I run an anti-spam software for my email separate from that package. Its a freeware antispam from trend micro, and it works awesome.

By using that, it frees up quite a bit of resources from disabling the anti-spam in the package. You can get the freeware anti-spam here.
