Florida has some of the best xc riding on the planet (for serious).

Head to Gainesville, and visit the guys at Bikes and More. Tell them Mickey said you could "borrow" one of their Darksides, and go ride your ass off. I promise, it isn't DH, but you will love it.

I'm embarrased to admit that this exists, but I actually have a FL State DH Champion plaque at my house, so yes I guess there is DH in Florida. Of course it was won over a decade ago on an XC hardtail, so maybe there isn't really DH in FL.

Gainseville and Santos have good trails. Is Ocala still open? Brooksville? South Florida has a few places but not for DH.

Key West - years ago I found some trails out by the airport. Just don't bend over to fix a flat or you may get a surprise. There were quite a few friendly 'guys' back there that are eager to 'service'.

Actually, Big Pine Key has some OK trails - XC and on broken coral though (but no surprises a la Key West public restrooms, then again it seems to be no different from a MN airport one nowadays!).

There is a cool freeride trail in Palm Bay next to the Turkey Creek trails (xc). Its a few miles long and a lot more fun than I expected (drops, sand berms, jumps, cat walks).

Here are some leads on info:

This guy, Uncle Jimmie, moved from Florida to Michigan a few years ago. He reports that there is good freeriding. He talks about the place called "The Toe". I guess it's closed, but here is some info: http://outdoortravels.com/biking_fl_overview_toe.html

Look at this site for Florida specific riders: http://www.freeridesouth.com/

Also, go ask on the South forum. There are 4-5 people that ride Windrock that are from Florida.
