I have an extra set of rims so I bought two, 26 x 1.5 IRC Metro tires and an Avid Rollamajig that I'm going to use with one of my hard tails for short training rides (on road, of course). The max pressure is around 100 psi - I hope this will be a good tire for rolling around town. I didn't want to use 1" tires because I worry about hitting potholes & so forth - therefore, it seems like the wider 1.5" tires would be safer, albeit slower/heavier.

Anyone know if these are decent tires?

those shouldn't give you any problems and don't worry about pot holes i roll over them on my road bike. actually i ride off road alot on my road bike so seriously don't worry about pot holes runnin 1" slicks on your mtb.

I tried fitting a tire to my rim - no way is my original tube gonna work - I'll visit the LBS & pick up a set of 26 x 1.5 inch tubes . . . including spares, of course.

i've got th 2.0" version and they have good puncture protection and bump up kerbs and survive wheelie hops off kerbs (although the impacts are rough!)
