You could probably eliminate the things on the shifter by just strapping a rubber band around the loose things. If the noise goes away, well you've found the culprit.

Just think of the rattle as part of the fun. From Bike Mag 6 years ago. "It's worth mentioning the GX DH trigger doesn't include a handlebar clamp. So, if this groupset is on your radar, you better cash out another 15 bucks worth of Bitcoin so you can actually mount the shifter on your bike. Also, the GX shifter does not feature SRAM's ZeroLoss system, which is intended to reduce subtle, unwanted movement or "play" at the triggers."

For many years I ran an XTR shifter, Saint derailleur, and 10spd cassette cut down to 7spd. It worked pretty well, no complaints.
In 2021 I got a new bike with XO1DH 7spd. It has also been flawless. I'd say it's a little quieter, more stable, better shifting than the old setup. The pulley cage button on the derailleur is nice during wheel changes. All my other bikes are Sram 11spd so my DH bike can share parts with them if needed. One winter I put one of my 11spd drivetrains and a dropper on the Gambler for a few rides just to see what it was like. Needs moar anti-squats.

Im happy as with my flogged GX. My sons newer GX is about the same. Cant fault it…. Oh yes i can, the jockey wheel jump but a hop a back pedal fixes that on the fly.

Had a similar changeover here although many years back, personally I found the SRAM X01DH stuff far better (faster / more stable / more reliable shifts) particularly over time.

I too have X01 11spd on my other bikes for cross-compatibility, these are two of the best mechanical drivetrains introduced in MTB.

Thanks @6thElement !
I have a X01 11spd drivetrain on my trail bike and I am now use to that "feature"

Anybody tried to switch the upper jockey wheel for a none narrow wide with success?
Bearing life length is rather short on sram's jockey wheels so that there might be potential to kill 2 birds with 1 stone: no more out of sync and longer life length

Yeah. Just swap it for a shimano guide pulley. Preferably one of their newer versions with taller teeth and no float. XT (and above) are sealed bearing but unlike SRAM last. Lower teir use bushing and they just last too.
NW on a jockey wheel is stupid.
Quite a few SRAM drivetrain innovations are.

GX DH drivetrain is much more quiet than Zee derailleur + Saint shifter. :triniti:
We have done 2 days of riding at Järvsö bikepark thanks to national holiday here in Sweden. Weather is nice here!

I still have some rattling noises on brake bumps. Do dominions rattle?

The organic pads that came in my Dominions didn't rattle, but as soon as I swapped those out for the metal ones, they did rattle.

But once some brake dust and crap got in there again, the rattling went away.

I think I have organic pads at both ends... I will throw some local dirt at my calipers tomorrow and hope for the best :dirol:

Replaced mine and sons today with some XT ones. Even pooped the seals off the bearings and grease and oiled them. They had nothing in there and were draggy. Spin Beautiful now and skipping will be gone. On a note i did notice they are a tooth less, so slight diameter change. Not ridden yet but cant see that being much issue even if the teeth skip, like the NW Srams did, it will stay in sync as there is no sync anymore.

I changed my too. I drilled the washer on the inside of the upper pulley so that it fits the inner plate.
Maybe I will look at the bearings too and put some grease in there since yours were dry...

If you want less faff/maintenance just fit shimano Deore/Zee/SLX jockey wheels with bushings.
