Do you have battery life issues with your IPOD too?binary visions said:http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107208
Frankly, I think it's stupid... If they were going for a screenless player, at least they could have gotten some decent battery life out of the thing.
for Apple.
the shuffle appears to have a AAA battery pack option. better than the propriatary battery in the iPod?stosh said:can't ya upgrade the battery?
yeah but can't ya upgrade the ipod battery?slowSSer said:the shuffle appears to have a AAA battery pack option. better than the propriatary battery in the iPod?
Not me personally, but my roommate has an iPod Mini and only gets like 7 hours out of the thing.Snacks said:Do you have battery life issues with your IPOD too?
Well.. On the plus side, the price point is pretty good. I, too, would fork out a little more cash for, say, the Rio, but if budget is the bottom line, it's a good price.narlus said:but...this product may appeal to fiscally-tighter parents whose kids are hounding for them for an ipod, just because all their friends have one.
I'm down to about 6 hours (maybe that) on mine. I'm trying to toast (read: use A LOT) the battery before my 1 yr expires in April.Snacks said:Do you have battery life issues with your IPOD too?
but how does this beat the competition? because it's $20 cheaper?Ridemonkey said:The shuffle would be ther perfect thing for running. I'm getting one. Don't need to be messing with a screen on a long run. Smaller, lighter, simpler = better.
syncs with itunes. (rio does this too.) plays aac files from iTMS. (rio doesn't.) Autofill, which seems like a useful bit on such limited capacity devices. $99 for 512 MB is a good price point. finally, apple has good customer care, unlike, say, iRiver. no experience with Rio.narlus said:but how does this beat the competition? because it's $20 cheaper?

I'm looking at the specs:narlus said:but how does this beat the competition? because it's $20 cheaper?
plus you have to charge it via USB or an optional charger. the triple A batteries of the Cali are not a nuisance in any case. oops, it looks like it's got an optional AAA battery pack. but still no memory card expansion slot.
meh.
I think the introduction of the Harmonica was the begining of the end.Westy said:Damn kids with their fancy boxes playing crappy music. What ever happened to just whistlin' or playing a kazoo?
Which has been available in other flash players for years - its not a new concept - just have a look at newegg and there are dozens of brands that do that...stosh said:that apple one rocks just because you don't need ANOTHER cord for charing or files swapping.

yeah the problem with the apple is the 240 songs with NO screen that could suck.syadasti said:Which has been available in other flash players for years - its not a new concept - just have a look at newegg and there are dozens of brands that do that...

Almost all players have shuffle/random play modes...the Inbred said:i kinda dig the Shuffle, except for the fact that it shuffles. i dig the simplicity, non-flashyness of it the most.
oh man, just read that you can keep it from shuffling. niiiiice. i'm back on the Shuffle bandwagon.
i know, and i never use it...truck, portable cd player, computer, home system. never use random. that's why i didn't like the Shuffle, i thought that's all it did.syadasti said:Almost all players have shuffle/random play modes...
Then Rio needs to update their site.narlus said:that stated MSRP on the cali is old...you can get it for cheaper, close to $100. since the shuffle just came out, discounting is unlikely for a while. i just got another 512MB card for about $30 so, the price difference for storage is pretty close. after you have yr mp3 player for a while, see if you wished you had more memory.
that's what i've been doing fullstop since i got my 300GB hard drive back in sept...i've got about 200GB filled (not sure but i think it's over 3000 cds at this point). soon i'll have most of the stuff i care about (non-vinyl) on the drive, and mega-tune library at my disposal.riderx said:As far as capacity, I have over 400 CDs and am always buying more, they'll never all end up in MP3 format, I just won't invest the time.
Rio and apple aren't the only flash player vendors on the market. Probably one of the best ones out there right now comes from Jetaudio...riderx said:I'm not saying apple is the shiznit, but all things considered, the shuffle is still looking like a better deal for my purposes than the Cali.
