I look forward to yet another season without a lift-assisted DH spot. (3rd year? 4th?) I echo NCRider's question: Why do I even own a DH bike?
The answer to that is that I won't for much longer. Time to go to a multi-front ring, 5-6 inch freeride bike to ride my local "hill" that is extremely short, super technical and has some nice jumps. The 20 second runs have been the only DH riding I have done in the last 4 years except a yearly trip to Washington.
For this I would like to thank the short-sighted, selfish, expert-level racer who sued Summit. I hope he reads this post: I feel bad for what happened to you, but did you literally have to ruin DH for all So Cal? Was it worth it?
You have to live with that knowledge for the rest of your life. Seems a high price to pay for $$$$$.
Luckily, my main sport is surfing. If it was DH, like NCRider, I'd move.
