I have it in my 2010 WCHello Monkeys,
Im guessing its been already covered in this thread.
But has anyone put the new Avy Cart in their 2010 Boxxer Team? Im just wondering if it would be that big of an upgrade from the stock Mission Control.
Cheers

bullcrew directed me over here from pinkbike, another avalance convert here.
this is one of the nicest parts i have ever seen made for a bike. it boggles my mind how craig is able to sell these as cheap as he does, the quality of the machine work and attention to detail is beyond top notch. i was ashamed that it all gets hidden inside the fork, but its one of those subtle things that people go "whats up with that gold knob on your boxxer..."
i do believe i have the ultimate setup for a 32mm boxxer chassis. the stancions are slippery silver one year only from 05. i have a single sided Ti spring (originally fork had a spring on each side).the lowers are 08 or 09, whichever year they updated the arch with bigger webbing. sunline direct mount stem. i'm not sold on the newer sram stuff either, there quality control seems to get worse and worse the bigger they get.
the difference in control was huge and i noticed it right away. the bike feels alive, the fork tracks twice as smooth, and the brake dive i was experiencing has disappeared. i'm gonna give it some time, but it sure felt dialed to me right out of the box. i'm not the type to mess with knobs constantly, i set and then i forget (which usually leads to me resetting them wrong when i try to count where they were).
i think the biggest benefit will be long term reliability. the cartridge is really simple by design. if you can install it, you can rebuild it, tune it etc. try doing that with your 40 (BTW i prefer my fork to any 40s i've ridden)...sure they ride nice for a ride or two, but i've never seen forks that crap out quicker than 40s. they are just too finicky. the recommended service interval for the cartridge is 1 or 2 years. period.
the only real question i have now is what shock to get for the rear of my bike cause now i'm jonesin for more buttery smoothness...
It is, call Craig just order the race tune and be good... you can get a mid speed valve kit as well..Thanks for the feedback.
So from what im getting, is the Avy kit custom tuned and ride-ready?

I personally would opt for the race tune period and the hydraulic bottom out allows for a lighter spring rate and the valving takes care of you... Fine tune with the adjustments and go ride...
nice forkthanks for the props i'll grab a pic a little later.
what will really piss people off is when i tell them how much i've sunk into the fork:
$200 for complete 2005 boxxer WC with 1 spare slippery silver stanchion, and spare Ti springs (had a fat dent in the lowers)
$200 for new 09 lowers
$300 for avalanche cartridge
$100 for sunline direct mount stem
so ~$800 for a ~6.5 lb avalanche dampered chrome plated race fork
i just sit back and laugh when i watch people spend twice that on a forty that is gonna be broken or need a service after a month of riding
I have a pic of real weight on a 2010 WC somewhere Ill dig up (shot on scale) and Ill see about taking it off and weighing it now. I need to do some stuff anywase and it would be a good time to do it...bullcrew - do you have before and after fork weights?
Exactly!!!race tune is just one of the valving setups he offers. there is also the "urban", "freeride" and "xc" tune. its just the shim stacks he puts in. i told him i race downhill. i put it in and its dialed, i really haven't messed with the adjustment either.
maybe i'll take my fork apart today and go weigh it at the shop...
Call Craig and ask him, plead your case you transfered money yesterday via the web and it didnt clear till 12 am...... So technically you were in the process of it yesterday!Oh bummers!
When I finally decided to order one today, I find out that the offer for the free 32mm boxxer adapter just expired yesterday (august 1st)!!!
I knew I should've done it last night instead of going to sleep earlier for work... grrrr
The cartidge can be reduced to 7 the prings are going to be questionable. If the springs in your fork were 2" shorter than the springs in the 8" it should be fine...Well I have loosely been following this thread over the past while, and I think this is right for me. I just bought a BNIB 2004 boxxer team, but thanks to my buddy riding it once, the rebound cartridge is pooched. Any insight on converting this fork to 200mm travel from 170mm with the AVY kit? What eles would I need besides the kit from AVY? And lastly, does the kit work in a 170/180mm travel setting?
Quick usually he likes to work guess he figures there's plenty of time to sleep when you die...AFAIK the 2004+ 7" forks can be swapped over to 8" with the right springs and dampers from rockshox, so it stands to reason that this would work. Should I just email Craig and see what he thinks? Whats the 'real' turnaround time for getting him to do it?
OOOOH word on the street is both 35mm and 888 adapters are in SOON..... And I mean REAL SOON!Can you tell him to hurry up and get my 888 on the team?
All this jerkin around with you Rock ****s owners and nothing for real DH riders?
That man be sippin the hateraid.
I can't wait for this to come out on the 40. I needed a damper rebuild anyways, and then I saw this from avyOOOOH word on the street is both 35mm and 888 adapters are in SOON..... And I mean REAL SOON!
august 15th, its on the website, just look. Can you tell him to hurry up and get my 888 on the team?

hmmm called but no one answers... seems to be ignoring my emails when I asked him to make an exceptionCall Craig and ask him, plead your case you transfered money yesterday via the web and it didnt clear till 12 am...... So technically you were in the process of it yesterday!
He's been slammed the carts are moving faster so he's building and tuning them. I know he's been busy between the roco tuning and parts for it the dhx and the everyday stuff...hmmm called but no one answers... seems to be ignoring my emails when I asked him to make an exception
good for him. It was a genius move to offer these carts...avy makes great stuff but it's tough for the little guys to make competitive chassis....so win win for all
Well then from what i gather you should be happy. Looks like they are$ 89Damnit, was hoping the adapters were less than $100.
Guess I'll be waiting a tad longer.
Pretty cool except I am not sure how one spring would be enough?i do believe i have the ultimate setup for a 32mm boxxer chassis. the stancions are slippery silver one year only from 05. i have a single sided Ti spring (originally fork had a spring on each side).the lowers are 08 or 09, whichever year they updated the arch with bigger webbing. sunline direct mount stem. i'm not sold on the newer sram stuff either, there quality control seems to get worse and worse the bigger they get.
If hes light or if his sag sets up right then the valving does the rest...Pretty cool except I am not sure how one spring would be enough?
