I emailed the dude over at balfa.co.uk asking if they have spareparts for this good old bike.

And the answer i got was that they have every part i would ever need.

Gonna get me some new linkplates, pulleywheel and so on.

Gonna send him a mail regarding the prices of each individual part. Guess i will have to wait until after the weekend for an answer.


There was talk about Appalache over at southerdownhill (the forum).

If i remember correctly balfa.co.uk now owns appalache, and was looking into producing the frame again. This was like a year ago and i have heard nothing new on the matter.

I've just uploaded completely new version of my Balfa website: www.balfa.wooyek.pl

It has new engine, some new and refined content, and first of all - finally a FORUM for all Balfa owners (I've recieved numerous questions about this). I hope you'll post your Balfas there and write a word or two about them :)

I got confirmation regarding the pulleywheel from the dude over at balfa.co.uk

They have them in stock and they will cost £35 complete with bearings and bolts.

i have a question...

was the BB7 a simplified version of the NR?. in the pics it looks like the Aluminim NR's front triangle was the same as the first Gen bb7 however its minus the linkage and has the idler instead of the jackshaft type drive.

Well, probably you could say that, but only Balfa makers will know for sure ;) "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" (or something like that), so it was the evolution the right way ;)

My BB7, picked it up a few weeks ago, still needs new forks, new brakes, new rear shock, non-square taper cranks... you know what am trying to say.

Has the nicest pedaling platform Ive ridden.

Make some new side plates, you could do it in your gararge. Drop the BB, shorten the rear end, nd slacken the head angle out, all by making new plates. Possibly make room for a longer shock, I know a guy on rotorburn did it.
This thread has inspired me to find a BB7, do what I said with the plates, but set her up as a trail bike, with shorter air shock, and 6" forks.

I have one sitting on display in my apartment, the pulley wheel needs to be replaced though...'02, serial number 007!

im in the same boat. i tried riding it without the cog and it would just result in a broken chain really quickly. only tried it one time and the chain broke twice within 15 minutes. the frame has been hanging in the garage for the past 2 years now.... im pumped to get the balfa back together!
