Along the lines of the lightest/most powerful thread, discuss the brakes that you feel have the best Value to Performance ratio.

Define your "Value" parameter. You mean the MSRP?

That's a great deal. I haven't tried the Code 5's yet. However, I am really happy with the regular Code brakes that I used this past year. So happy that I will be using the exact same brakes next year. No need to buy new every year.

Also, I have used several versions of Hayes and and a set Hope Mono4's each for at least a full season and I think that the Codes are much better. They have better modulation than Hayes and more stopping power than the Hopes. They are also more reliable than either of those too. I didn't even need to bleed them all year.

Agreed on the Codes! Best thing to do on them is get them re-bled before using them, as about half of them come from tha factory with air in them it seems, but once you do that, they are the best brakes ever! I have last years models as well, have been running them for almost a year without one problem, & damn they are powerfull:thumb:

Depends on how much cash you have. You can find Hayes incredibly cheap lots of places. I ran hayes for a long time and they were okay. Nothing extraordinary, not as bad as some people say.

Juicys are the next thing. They are a bit pricier, but probably worth it. You can find sets on ebay or the classifieds here for pretty cheap. Codes are generally more. Haven't owned a set, so I couldn't say if they are worth it, but my Juicys have been great.

Avid BB7's. Powerful, adjustable, simple, cheap, easy to work on, and no hydro fluid to futz with.

Mike's right, there were 12 different brakes mentioned in this thread. Best bang for the buck is probably gonna be Juicy 5s.
