My roommate wants to get a bike so he can ride with me on some local trails. He doesn't need any thing that would be over kill. Trails are pretty flat and easy. He is looking to spend about $400. I cant figure out any bikes for him wanted some advice. Also he would really like mechanical disc brakes. Ideas on what to get.

well, I know that Sports Authority, not there online site, but the actual store has some nice Diamondback Response '06 I believe and Some Iron Horse Mavericks, not too positive of the Iron Horse though. But Those don't even break $350 at the store, and the Iron Horse I saw came with some nice Mechanical Disk Brakes.
