I am trying to compile a list of parks that allow bikes in washington.

I know of Redmond and Woodenville and a few down south.

if you are aware of parks that allow bikes 100%, I would appreciate the name/location. some parks don't officially allow bikes but the rules are not enforced, the names/locations of those would be great too, just mention if they do or don't officially allow bikes.

thank you.

In bellingham bikes arent really allowed, the skaters will kick you out becasue they are almost never gone. I got in a few nights ago when no one was there. However, if you are really good at riding in the park they will let you stay as I have noticed.

i see bikers in the skatepark by ratpac all the time..they are always sitting around chatting it up with the skaters, so I'm guessing everything is kosher there for bikers/skaters in that park

Yeah, Rat Pac is rather hard for some folks to find the first time. With the gates up now, the only way to shuttle unless you have a trailer with a quad(hint, hint) is Borrego's way through Cle Elum and up. But, it's not very direct. You gotta reaaaaly want to shuttle to do that. We'll all be riding it a bunch this summer. Until it gets too dry and dusty. Spring and fall are best.
There's decent directions out on the web if you don't mind pedaling up. Look for a post in the next month or so, I'll be going.

In keeping with this thread, the Woo-ville park near the high school allows bikes. But, it can be a real klusterf&*k there at times.

I'm not much help for anything north of tacoma since I rarely have enough time to ride places that take more than a 1/2 hour to get to but these are parks I ride where bikes are legal:

U.P.
thrill zone
56th (tacoma)
puyallup
Rainier Vista (lacey)
Shelton
Centralia
I think Silverdale is legal too but I've only been their once

trails:

Monty's
Dart
Shelton (I think they have an actual name for them but I can't remember what it is they call em but those silly shelton heshers have a little site with periodic updates...http://www.geocities.com/nw_r/trailnews.html )

of course there's also a few 'private' bike parks too right

I was thinking about going around to bike friendly parks and taking overview pictures (much like brock does for skateboarding) and maybe trails too but without directions of course

that's kind of what I'm trying to get together.

for now, a list of all parks that 100% allow bikes. then after I've been to them, maybe get a webpage up someplace. nothing special, just a list of parks with overview pics and a description.

there are plenty of lists of parks but because they are created by skaters, that don't usually say if bikes are allowed.....

thanks!

yeah and the reviews/ratings are done by skaters, which can be quite different from what bikers like or look for in a park.

yea, sleestak is long gone...

basicly what I want to do is make a list of legal spots I can ride. I don't care about independant places for this list.

mainly I'm looking for skateparks but I may as well add some dirt spots to it as well.
off hand, greenlake and bellingham come to mind for dirt..

basicly just a list of places that I can say "hey, it's saturday, I'm free, where can I ride..?" and then pick some place and go there. instead of driving someplace only to find out they actually don't allow bikes, even though many kids on bikes ride there often (like Bothell)

eventually, as I go to these places, I'll take pictures and then probably create a webpage so others can use the list as well.

make sense?

to my knowledge, there isn't anything like this available. there are plenty of park listings but they don't say what ones allow bikes....

there's a lot of local bmx websites but none have comprehensive spot checks or anything. All the decent sites with park listings are created by skateboarders

I can't add any to SR's list.

If I think of any others I'll let you know.

SR - You never come to U.P. anymore. I skate there 4-5 nights a week. The scene has died out so the sessions go off.

Travis is back on a bike (a P3 for rehab pedaling)

ha...I was going to ask you about that film. I've recently been developing my own stuff. Yeah I need to get back up there to either UP or thriller zone. I just haven't had a lot of time lately because we're re-landscaping our backyard. I will try to get up there soon hopefully, I'll drop you an email and bring your PS disc

both tri-cities skateparks officially allow bikes. the richland one is amazingly good for a public outdoor cement park. kennewick is mediocre. but i think the richland one is like 25,000 sq. feet or somethin and its sooooo sick, i go there a few days a week after school and i can't get enough. i get a few comments about bein on a mountainbike, but rarely anything negative. but u can check it our for yourself at www.richlandskatepark.com

thanks again everyone!

SR- I like your B&W shots, however, I always feel like a pudz when seeing myself in pics. it goes something like this, "Man, that was so awsome, I must have been 20 feet off the ground!". then I see the picture and thinkg, "aw, what?, I'm only 3 inches off the ground!!????" :( haha :)

Brock, that's a nice pic too.

The Everett skate park allows bikes: it's got some open lines, a fun quarter, some challenging coping, and a great bowl that both the STP and my big bike have railed. It's at Walter Hall park on W Casino, but beware: the place is packed with skaters! I used to hit it at like 7-8 in the morning to get quiet time in...
