When I moved in, they tried to tell me the same thing. I said too bad, they are staying inside. They were gonna give me this great deal on a garage, but not for me! I have a whole second bedroom dedicated as the bike room :)
thats the way my old apartment was set up as well....however they never told me that i couldnt have bikes in there...now that i think about they never even came to place unless something wrong with it..

Since you're going month-to-month and will have no lease, I think you're completely f**ked legally. They don't really need a reason to ask you to leave if you're not in a lease AFAIK.

Start looking for a new place, and in the mean time tell them you want what Transcend suggested - a written statement that they'll replace the bikes if they're stolen from the storage unit. Worst case is they say no and you're not any worse off than before you asked.

Yep - they can't "evict" us straight up, but they can give us a month to move out (legally they have to change the rental agreement and give the rental period before any action). I think that's why they waited. Our lease expired in June.

Damn. Already looked at a few places...it's just such a PITA to move. :(

I keep mine on my balcony... I had an 2004 SGS Pro, a 2004 SGS Expert, a 2005 7point3, a 2006 7point5...

I had my stable of horsies for like 2 months on my balcony and no one said anything...

If it's not in the lease, tuff. Always agree on that stuff BEFORE you sign anything. Also try to put something against the wall, or lean them against furniture. I have an old chair that I never use, and I lean my bikes against that. Most MGR's are pretty laid back if you explain your situation. If it looks as those all else has been tried, then move. The stress isn't worth it, trust me

When you move out..... take one of the wheels off and leave tyre tracks going up the walls and across the ceiling.

Find a stairwell that people don't typically walk under (most apartments I see have plenty) or find a place on the stairwell where people don't usually visit. Buy a fish, put the fish in a burlap sack, put the whole thing under the stairs. Let it rot, you and your neighbors will have to live with the stench. Complain to the landlord, have your neighbors complain to the landlord. Repeat the process until the landlord decides she has better things to do rather than worry about whether or not your bikes are in your apartment.
