So my son is turning 4 in september and he's ready to get is first BMX now. His been ripping on a kickbike and has excellent balance. He around 104 cm/ 3,4 feet/40 inches - should I get him 12" or 16"? He'll propably get the Mirraco Apprentice and it should last him a few years hopefully.:-)

12":

16":

Thanks!

get him the 12inch. it has a hand brake.
haha
although the 16inch would show him how to handle a bigger bike and such..
plus 16s are fun for pixie racing and such, fun for everyone!

That's a tough one. It really depends if you want to buy him another bike in a year or two. If not, buy the 16. I'm a big believer in kids riding small bikes to help develop bike skills. I remember I rode my little bike with 16s forever... even after other kids my age were riding 20s.

you might want to look into BMX racing "mini" bikes. they come in several different wheel sizes. but they are ultra light, way lighter than the mirra. not good for pegs, but if you mainly just want him getting bmx skills, then a mini is the way to go.

check out the Redline minis and micro minis.

... as far as the Mirra, you could put some smaller bars on the 16" and then swap to larger bars when he gets bigger.....
