Bomb-ass wheel suggestions?

So I'm finally building up my dream hardtail, and instead of using bits I already have, I want to do it right, all new.
Looking for some suggestions on some sweet-ass XC wheels. Light, but not spindly.
I have a bunch of CrossMax SL wheels now, I like them, but looking for something different.
Leaning a bit towards Industry 9 right now, but I have a sweet pair of 28 hole carbon MTB rims I was thinking about maybe building with some 240 hubs. I wish they were 32 hole, then I'd get I9 to build them up.

get I9 to send you some 28h hubs and use those carbon rims. use some revolution spokes, tension em up properly and they will be super light and ride nice.
are they tubular or ****ters

If I'm going I9, I'd want to do their fancy hubs, which are 32 hole only. I'm leaning towards them, even if I can't get some 32 hole carbons.
They're clincher, MTB rims, really nice and stiff. I have them built in another wheelset that I really enjoy.

yeah they are a little beefy for XC but they are still in the same weight range since they are tubeless
EX823 = 580g
XM819 = 465g

That is nearly a quarter pound of rotational weight.

XC717 = 420g -- unless you run 2.0 or smaller tires, I wouldn't suggest this one, though. I have one on the front that I have 2.3 WTB weirwolf, but there is no way I would run that on the rear. Plus, I weigh in around 220#.

for a full on DH wheel they are pretty light. I am going to race on them this year.

Not really a fan of either choice. I used to like DT hubs, but for some reason, i find myself recommending King or XTR. I9 will be the most bling-arific.

que token I9 horror story...

customer comes in, says his derailleur ate his wheel. what do you know, every driveside spoke is ruined. he's got 2 driveside spokes. takes about a week to get more, and he gets to race on cheap-ass demo wheel. sucky sucky.

though, he still won his class.

I'm not a huge fan of the King hubs, I feel they have a bit more drag that I'd like personally.
The XTRs are nice, but I'm a SRAM guy, so I don't really want to be running Shimano hubs on an X.0 bike ya know?

I'm looking at the Bontrager Race X-Lites now, as my buddy there can get me a smokin' price on them, and they're supposed to be pretty nice. That'll tide me over until I can get some 32 hole carbon rims to have Industry 9 build up for me.

I'm not too concerned about that, I don't think that's ever happened to me riding, and even if it did, I have a closet full of wheels I can stick on in the meantime.

I'm having my LBS make me a set of Mavic 819's with Marwi Tye Dye Titanium spokes with gold alloy nipples with red Hope Pro 2 hubs. Yes, very expensive but I gotta buy me something once in a while.:drool:

I'd say lace the carbon rims you have to DT Swiss 190's. Or just go with their XCR 1250 wheelset. $$ Cha-ching $$ :drool:
Those XCR1250s are super hot! Damn light too...

The 190 hubs are ridiculously expensive, I could get some I9s built for less probably...

Yeah, I haven't really looked into the price because I figured if I had to ask...

I'm surprised you have no inside hookups for DT, though.
