They booted him because he became a father. Now THAT is ghey.
Vinnie is just as good, or better IMO from a technical stand point. You dare say that Vinnie doesnt have any SOUL???
Man, From a technical stand point, his phrasing and his incredible ability to use the right fill at the right time, use completely different time signatures and take drumming to A NEW LEVEL...He is ALSO the man... We will just have to agree to disagree on that one.
I've toured with Pantera a few times. After seeing his playing up close, and every day - it just really didn't do anything for me. Technically, very impressive, but that's about it. The DDrum sound got on my nerves too. Drum re-enforcement with triggers has always bothered me for some reason. The over all sound comes out very sterile.
Trust me I'm not slaggin the guy, his playing is just not my cuppa tea.
Since this is a "drum related" thread... check it out.
I guess I am going to start studying with the percussionist from Havana Nrg... they are a pretty famous Afro Cuban band. He barely speaks any english, studying with him may end up being totally musical with very little talking. It will be a long drive every couple of weeks but there arent any percussionists in this state that I can learn a lot from anymore, I hate Oklahoma
He sent me a picture of him sitting in front of a mix and match percussion setup in Cuba...
Denton TX, near the university of North Texas. Apparently they have one of the best latin percussion departments in the US. One of only 6 or 7 that are endorsed by LP. This is the guy that the head of the percussion department reccomended that I study with. I am familiar with his band Havana Nrg (very well respected in cuba and south america) so I bet the guy is a total badass.

Sorry no can do. Cant carry bike and congas at the same time, in that respect, I miss my SUV pretty badly. Besides, by the time I got to you it'd be almost dark I also have to play a gig on Sunday so I couldnt even hang out to ride the next day
Another time however... chances are if he has enough congas at his house that I won't have to bring my drums every time, I'll be doing this every few weeks so one of these times I'l pack a bike.
