Not my auction. Sorry if I have offended you in anyway. I've just never seen a $7500 price tag on a bike before.

btw...you spelled spammer wrong.

No you can't have $7500 as you can't be trusted to spend it properly. I'm sorry to offend all the fan boys but that bike is not worth more than $5000 tops. Actually for $5000 I'd really want a better wheelset, better shifters, maybe a better derailur (although I've got no problem with XT a bike with that price tag deserves better) Hayes brakes are pretty run of the mill... Really the only high end and/or rare parts on that bike are the frame (only because they were built in limited numbers) and the fork and shock. The fork and shock alone are worth about $2000 new, the auction doesn't specify them as new just the frame, I'd pay less if I purchased them on Ebay. The rest of the build could be something they pulled off of a stock IH Sunday they were building as a race bike, there's no more than $500 in OEM components there. So you have to ask yourself is the frame really worth $4500? Personally I don't think so.

Agreed.

It claims it weighs 50lbs... ARHAHAHAHA.

If anyone can get back to me on the appeal of a 65 lb steel monstrosity that costs 7.5gs, it'd be great.

the price tag on a brand new RL is $3600. That fork brand new is $1795 (http://www.avalanchedownhillracing.com/dhf8forka.html). If my elementary school math skills are correct that's over 5 grand...
You're right. It's over 5 grand. Which makes the rest of the build kit worth $2,105.

Knock a little off for the blingin' floating brake arm and you still have a mediocre build kit that he's charging almost 2k for.

Then you have to consider the fact that it's on eBay instead of through a retail outlet, which has warranty implications, and nobody should pay full retail on eBay anyway. You pay less because you have to deal with private sellers, often less-than-ideal payment methods, etc.

It's a nice bike for sure, but it ain't worth $7500. Knock $1500-2000 off that and we're talkin'.

I agree the build kit is nowhere near 2g's. My point is that Kornphlake was talking out his a$$hole saying that frame and fork were only worth $2000. Also whoever is selling this has to be part of the BMW family, as that was/is the only way to get the ti floating brake arms (i'm pretty sure these weren't made available until after the robbery - hopefully DHS or TMX Terry can verify this for me)

Before you go insulting someone, might want to re-read his post.

He said fork and shock, not fork and frame. You even quoted that specific part fo the post. Though I'll grant you, the frame and shock ARE worth more than $2k, but not a whole lot more.

7500 + shipping. They should offer free shipping on that steel klunker.

I hear a lot of good things about the shocks, but very little about the forks - are they mediocre?

my bad. it was early and i didn't have my coffee yet (and like jeff goldblum, "I ... I ... can't read or write"). i have never seen a RL sell for less that 2500, regardless of how used it is.

The fork is the best one I've ever felt. Most people don't ride them because of cost and the fact that they weigh something like 10-12 lbs.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, my blood was starting to run hot.

So I estimated my price about 10% low (big deal) for the fork and shock, but given the fact that it's on ebay I wouldn't pay full retail for either. I stand by my statement that the entire package is worth $5000 max and that's being a little generous. If the guy were to part it out he might find a little more, but when you look at a complete bike you pretty much look at the frame, shock and fork and consider the rest of the components freebies, especially when sold second hand or advertised as NEW on ebay.

it's called a jackshaft. completely eliminates pedal induced feedback and chaingrowth because the secondary gear axle is also the pviot for the swingarm. I believe Doc owns the patent on it (for a bicycle at least)

Doc doesn't own a patent on it. just has been using the design since 1995 or something like that.
those of you that are behind in this style of bike should check out the 241 page brooklyn thread on this site
http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86507&page=241&highlight=bmw+porn

also did no one else notice that this bike is Craig's, owner of Avalanche downhill products. sure the frame is a little older, but these are still being made. this bike for sure would sell for about 4500 or so used on ebay.

my racelink is just under 43lbs...

ok asshats...

brooklyn's aren't hunks of ****, they're probably more bike than most of us need, & cost more than many of us are willing to spend, but please...

having spent some time on several of them... each has felt really good... solid & quiet.

They're not my cup of tea, but no need to piss on others.

gotta agree. the BMW racelink is hands down the best DH bike I have ever ridden, and I'm far from the only one out there with this opinion. If you've never ridden one, you don't know what you're missing. They are pricey, but well worth it IMO.

For the rest of you: carry on!

Also, nice bike - but I agree, seems a tad overpriced.

I think that ti floater is from back in the day when the avalanche team rode racelinks. That probably makes it one of the first rl's

so yeah, very overpriced.

yeah he did, I have one on my rl.

but this rl doesn't seem to have the gusset at the headtube, So it's pretty old. Plus I'm pretty sure i've seen it on ebay before (like more than half a year ago).
