The Dark Knight is scheduled for a 2008 release and The Joker is being reintroduced. IMDB lists Heath Ledger as The Joker.is it really worth it?
Old franchises being re-done or re-invented have been weak lately... except for Batman Begins.
If you like Bond movies with lame ass gimmicks, don't see it.is it really worth it?

Better than all the ones that didn't have Sean Connery in them.
nicholson was still the greatest. he has that creepy vibe. especially in the shining.I think Heath will rock as the Joker .
I can't believe they were considering Robin Williams.
true but i do believe brosnan is a close secondBah. No one can replace Connery. But I'll probably end up seeing it anyways.
so you're saying this movie has some substance? Some character development, no deus ex machina, villians with depth? If you like Bond movies with lame ass gimmicks, don't see it.

IMO he nailed it.Steve, how did Craig pull this off? Was he as good as everyone's saying he was? From what I've read they were trying to re-write the character as a darker, more sinister character. How'd they do?
IMO yes.so you're saying this movie has some substance? Some character development, no deus ex machina, villians with depth?
are you kidding?Brosnan was only marginally better than Dalton. Lazenby is the only true Bond...
Finally someone with a clue, I've been saying the same thing for years. :biggrin:Brosnan was only marginally better than Dalton. Lazenby is the only true Bond...
Jaws wasn't in it, if that's what you're getting at.Is it better than Moonraker?
ditto. 'twas a bond movie with impact. i dig. This has got to be the best Bond movie ever. Just saw it now.
No big conspiracy to world domination, nothing big. Its "raw". Loved it.
What I've said about film making all along, throw some good actors at a good scrip and it will kick ass, computer graphics are all well and good, but nothing beats a scene where all the special effects are done live and captured on film. The opening was shot on good old fashioned 16mm high ISO film to get that grainy look, you can do similar things in Aftereffects for a lot more money, but it won't look half as good. Stricly technicaly speaking there were tons of special effects (blood, gun shots, contact lenses ect) but almost zero computer effects. When you have a great script and Judy Dench and Daniel Craig you simply don't need extravagent distractions, Keanue Reeves needs all the computer animation he can get to hide his acting, hence the Matrix was a decent flick. You noticed there were NO special effects in Casino royale.
"M" was great & Bond (Daniel Craig) killed it !
Wasn't John Cleese the sidekick/replacement for Q a couple movies back? I vaguely remember him and Desmond L. kickin' around with the gadgetz....Just saw this last night and do have to say I was impressed. I liked the play up of the dark side of the character for sure.
I agree with Max the lack of a Q was disappointing, it's one of the things that makes a Bond movie IMO.
A couple of things bugged me (like what happened to Felix when he couldn't pick up his guy? Did he just say F it and go home?)
All in all though, I like this direction. And I think Craig pulled it off quite well.
Cleese worked alongside Llewlyn in The World is Not Enough as "R". Strangely enough, the movie was shot shortly before Llewlyn died. Cleese's "R" replaced "Q" in Die Another Day.Wasn't John Cleese the sidekick/replacement for Q a couple movies back? I vaguely remember him and Desmond L. kickin' around with the gadgetz....
I'll need to see this flix, but speaking of Brosnan.true but i do believe brosnan is a close second
Are you kidding? One of the worst movies I've seen so far this year. Not Bad. Actually very, very, good.
If you see it...
"To the RIGHT!"
You will flinch/laugh out loud.
Let me guess...you're THE guy that's seen Crispin Glover's master work and thought it had to be one of the most beautifully crafted pieces of film in all cinema...Are you kidding? One of the worst movies I've seen so far this year.
And the "to the right" line was just after the "you have such a nice body mr. bond. do you work out? its a shame i am going to hit you in the nuts with this steel ball."
Only good for MST3K fodder.
