Hello everyone I'm new to the forums, but could use some advise. I guess in the DH world I would be an old guy at 43 lol haven't rode in a while but trying to get back into it, with that being said with 5 kids I'm on a tight budget so old school bikes are where I'm headed so my 3 choices from what's for sale where I live are A 99 Intense M1, Intense 6.6 with a double crown front shock not sure of year or a 2010 Kona Stab deelux, I don't catch major air but do ride hard. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

A) Rent. Spend your money on good fitting gear for now.

B) if you really want a new bike, get something 2008 or later.

C) of those you mentioned, the stab is the closest thing to a "real" bike. The intense is flexy garbage and the other intense is old garbage. The kona is heavy but not poorly designed.

Hard to make a recommendation without seeing the specs and accompanying prices... but the Stab is easily the best of the lot. The Intense M1 from 1999 has has lived its useful purpose and can be eliminated outright.

Don't sweat your age, there are a lot of old guys here (47 here).
Where do you live, and where will you be riding??
Hey Nick thanks for your reply, I live in Reno NV so it will be mostly resort riding and trails in Tahoe

Santa Cruz V10 with a boxxer any better? My spending amount (so I don't sleep in the dog house) is about 1200, I know I'm not going to get the best of anything since now a days just the front forks cost more then that but I'm looking to have fun and enjoy my ride

Are these listings online? If so, post them here. Name of the bike + fork isn't enough to go on to make a recommendation.

Santa Cruz V10 is a good bike, but they've been making it since ~ 2002... a newer one would be cool. An old one... see the recommendation above about 2008 or newer.

That might work - dunno about the sizing... could be a bit small.

The transition will be pedalable however, if you need to run around on the flats a bit... the entourage is pretty much straight dh/park.

My first DH bike was a 1998 Schwinn Straight Six... in 2000. I paid $1200 for it!

A giant faith just popped up looks really clean and I think it's a good price I know it's more of a park bike but it would do good at DH right?

Rofl I had tears for a while on that one, but if you get a box from ups with holes in it its a present from me so just tell me what age you would like lol
Just past diaper age and in good health. I could handle having one of those around. The shitting and screaming is the deterrent.

The Rocky for $1100 seems like a good deal to me. Not that old, good parts, does not look beat, ridden by an old XC guy.
