I had just tightened the axel clamps on my Nixon’s and went for quick spin out the front of my house when CRACK!!!

I use a Torque wrench and tighten them to about 20 in-lb (Manitou says 45-55 in-lb!)

Has this happened to anyone else???

I've never heard of it happening to that fork. Manitou's warranty dept. is top notch, give 'em a call.

The now broken lowers were actually replacements as the shaft holes in the base of the original lowers were out of alignment causing the air piston to leak.

The photo of the Hex-Lock Platinum on the Answer site is beefed up in the area that broke on my forks (see below). I can’t remember if the original lowers were like the photo.

Yeah I've seen this happen before, only a day or two ago actually. Some guy on farkin.net had it happen to him, in fact I think he even had the same name as you! Small world huh?
