I leave for crankworx later on today, so figured I would get this thread all ready to go. I'll be updating daily starting Friday with full reports, interviews and photo galleries on Transcend.

I'll also be posting photos from my fancy new camera phone (with flash!) from the parties and shenanigans all day long. It should be a good time.

Talked to Beatty today and he said the same, mint conditions! Super stoked for the weekend. Gonna rip off some practice runs Friday for nats and then a run or 2 on garbanzo. Following this, I intend on damaging my liver. You in?

I was riding there yesterday, spoke to Lars, saw Rennie and Kovarik may have even seen the elusive Mr. DW in the morning.
The trails are fast right now, there was a little sprinkling of rain late afternoon that would halp keep the dust down. Garbanzo is just stupidly good fun and it's good times all round. I'll be there on Weds for the Air DH and possibly on the weekend.

Sounds like a ton of people should be there, should be good. Just a heads up, I'm gonna probably empty out this thread except for Johnny's post when i start to post updates.

If someone wants to start a "i'll be wearing...come ride with me" type thread, I'll be glad to sticky it.

BTW John...those are some snazzy graphics you got there... :D

Is there a list of registered athletes up for the various events anywhere? I'm mainly looking for slopestyle and jump jam competitors.

When I was there last week there was a total of 1500 registered for all events. Somebody also hit the back flip thing next to the old road gap.

The internet access here blows from the press center, so everyone will be a bit thin on pics i think until they can get that sorted out.

The dh course for nationals is super fun, but dusty and slippery. Practice starts in 30 mins, and seeding runs are at 1.

Rennie, Kovarik, Neethling etc were all tooling around th ebike park yesterday having a blast.

LOL....our internet just got fixed, so Fraser if you can't find one, the Tantalus lodge is like a 3 minute walk from the village. Was going to see if the Westin had a hotspot in their lobby as well. Gonna try and shoot more pics today.

Towing the party line.
Finally online in the press room. Uploading pics now to Transcend. The course was SUPER fast, sketchy and loose. 2 of the top hopefuls (Beatty and Kitzanuk) were knocked out with mechanicals (luke) and a wicked crash (jeff). Jeff is still at Vanacouver General after a CT Scan and possibly requiring surgery. Hopefully I'll get an update on this soon.

Mitchell was a stress case all weekend, so good to see him get it done.

Open practice all day so I'm off to hit up garbanzo a bit and then relax. Still 100+ here in Whistler.

You'd think by now they'd let it rest.... sure you might not agree with it but everyone that matters has ruled that Michelle can race. To take you opinion like that to the podium in the middle of Whistler village with non-biking people looking on does not look at all professional, not helping the image of the sport.

Back to Crankworx... got any photo's of people trying the last feature on the slopestyle? They were still finishing it off last week when I was there. What's the though for the trick of choice off the end? Front flip?

Do you think having a transexual be the national champion helps anymore? It may help the cause of transexual but not the image of DHing. Regardless what the UCI might say I think for Michelle to race the girls is showing disrespect to all these girls working hard to be successful.

Anyway.. I know dead horse..

Mani, I disagree. Personally I want the "image" of DH to be of a sport that welcomes everyone, instead of being exclusive based on personal bias. Whatever, yeah dead horse.

This is one of the hardest debates for me. Make any comment you want, but I am open minded about sexuality. And to make any nasty comments about any person, transexual or not, one will pay a price.

I admire Michelle Dumansque's struggle to compete on the dh circuit, knowing that she has very few friends, must be amazingly hard.

But, I also know she does have a size and strength advantage. Maybe it equals out, maybe not. I don't know if she should compete knowing that she has that advantage, and that is my debate.

The Bikercross course is big, will hopefully allow for some passing and is dry and dusty. I'll try and get photo's later this week.

Why can't we love him as a "girl" racing in the mens races? I think Marla put it best-"Michelle has the advantage of seeing the aggresive lines down the hill simply because that's how men see things. I as a woman have had to train myself for years to see what men see instinctivly" He has more advantages than just his size, strength and physical prowess.
I love him, but I don't think what he is doing is right, fair or decent.
