Yo - thinking of getting back into BMX racing next year (last race was '83! ). I'm coming from DH racing, so I think I want to go cruiser rather than 20". Anyone care to throw out some recommendations? Thanks!

Dude - thanks! More ideas...I currently have a Steelhead that I could "convert" into a 26" BMX bike, but i think that frame is rusting form the inside out!
One thing. I don`t know you or how fast you are but.... If you race cruiser remember there are no rookie classes like there are in 20" racing. That means the cruiser guys are FAAAAAST.

I haven't raced BMX since '83 but have been doing OK at DH in various classes, so we shall see! Truth be told, I want to get back into BMX racing to improve my jumping for DH.
CRF311 - that Intense looks sweet! I was actually looking a the 2009 version of that as Jenson still has a few full bikes at 300. I really like the hydroformed TT and your build, though - gives me some ideas on lightening up the '09 Intense if I go that route.
lightening it up is easy... keeping it low cost is the hard part. i would say tire and tube combos make a huge difference, gearing is just as important (might not feel as "heavy") not sure dropping coin on the bike is more important then getting it dialed to the track you use it on. Riding style helps figure out what you should really do also. if your not the smoothest then stay away from carbon forks, paper thin racing bars and forks, etc. (piece of mind). it will really help with making you a better more complete rider. i feel racing bmx and hitting the dj's and pumptracks help me be more confident when im racing motocross, and vice versa.
