Hey guys, just wanted to let the Evergreen guys know someone cut the gate open to the access road at Duthie. It looks like someone spent a lot of time with a cutting torch to get the gate open.
Ahh cool, well not the crash but at least it wasn't vandalism. Was there an ambulance involved? I hope the guy is alright, and hopefully this doesn't scare the city

Damn! Sorry to hear about that. But relieved to hear he's gonna be OK. We're going to put a temporary lock on the gate today and then ASAP weld it back together and attach a fire dept lock box to it so they can get in.
my advice is to just not use a seat with replaceable rails on a dh/fr bike (even if it comes stock). its way better to bend seat rails and have to replace that seat than to have them impale you...trust me
Wishin the injured rider BEST OF LUCK on healing up soon!
For FR/DH/4X only (not XC), I highly recommend SDG I-beam seat/post after ur back on bike.
Get well soon!
Doing just fine. It will be getting a firebox so the fire/rescue guys also have a key to just get in when needed. (Hopefully not often.) They should have had access all along anyways and it was probably an oversight. The Eastside Fire guys were I guess pretty cool about it which was nice. I guess Mike has received some grief from the Seattle Fire folks at Colonade rescues...
Holy ****, it didn't occur to me until right now that this was you dude! I saw this thread before I heard about your wreck and didn't think it was anyone I knew. Hope you get healed up soon, mang.
Pisses me off that there are all these fire roads up to the top of mountains and I can't use them to shuttle! There are a number in my area that are closed off.
I had a tire buzz the back of an Ibeam seat and break off the back half. I didn't know it and sat on the seat... 16 stitches in my nutsack. Tore it right open. Terrible Experience.
I've seen quite a few broken IBeams over the years, too... I'm sticking to rails that bend before they snap.

Agreed. I have seen a few similar things. I would just say to look for a seat with well secured rails! Replaceable rails are asking for bad things to happen.

The worst part of stitchs in your sack is the novacaine(sp?) shots before they sew your sack shut.....been there, done that. Bleeds like a mofo too.......tough to keep your composure.
