It was a game tying 51 yard field goal in KC last week, and a game winning 41 yard field goal this week. Both missed by a kicker who was 40 for 42 last year. We actually beat SF.
Game winning no. To take the lead, yes. Still plenty of time for a drive.

Wow, I quit watching at the half when I left the bar. I was a little shocked to see the score this morning. I think it's more of a case of AZ sucking rather than a great comeback.

Good on the Bears for not loosing to the suck.

If I was a bears fan I'd be concerned if they didn't have a cake schedule. Only teams they will face that are likely to have a winning schedule for the rest of the season are the Patriots and the Giants.

Tough schedules are clearly un-American, and seeing as how the Bears are freedom lovers, we have rightly annoited them the Team of Destiny.

Meh.

You can only play the teams on your schedule. I could see if they were eaking out wins each week, but up until MNF, they had the #1 scoring offense and defense in the league. Is it early to annoint them anything? Yes. Of course. I say the bears will win the SB every year, but this season they have a good a shot with or without the media's hype.
Bears are as always still susceptible to big time WRs like Steve Smith, Anquan Boldin, etc. but c'mon guys, you have to give some credit for what happened the other nite. AZ didnt give the game away as much as the Bears simply took it right out of their hands, literally, with no offense. I know that counts for nothing to some of you, but true team character is built in games like that. The true test will be to see how they react when all their opponents now run a similar scheme...and that's up to coaching, they clearly have the athletes.
Hell, if Grossman hit Berrian on that first play, the game would've been OVER and we all know it. AZ played lights out over their head, and the Bears played their worst of the season on the road and came away with the win. Im happy for that, and concerned.

There are always teams that make the playoffs only because they have a cake division or an easy schedule. The playoffs usually root them out early so it doesn't matter much.

Thing is, you cant say Chicago isnt at least as solid as any other team out there. Indy has had all kinds of trouble with bad teams. SD has a young QB and lost to "No O" Baltimore. Denver is solid on defense, but Jake Plummer is an accident waiting to happen. Who is the superpower right now? You have to expect Chicago, after years of futility and with its huge fan base to get pumped up. No one truly beleives these are the 85 bears (yet) but can we be excited without all the "easy schedule" jabs? What about Seattle? Hammered them. It counts.

Oh, I give them credit. I watched that whole game.
I watched the damn defense take the game over.
I watched St. Louis piss away an easy victory.
The fact that the Bears won that game shows what kind of team they really have though.
That said, Grossman was the biggest joke (in that game), I have seen all year. Hell, at least Kyle Orton could keep from turning the ball over 6 times.
I still say Chicago is the team to beat, but the regular season is good for nothing but getting you into the playoffs, just ask Manning.
and one more thing....

Steve Smith.

Good call--see Jacksonville 2005. Chicago's game against the Pats will be the true test as to how good they really are.

Who do you guys think will take the NFC? I can't say for certain, but it looks to be between Seattle, Chicago, New Orleans, and Carolina (in that order). In the AFC, it'll come down to Indy and San Diego.

I see Indy losing in the first round again.

Up sh*t creek, without a paddle
I think they will have a tougher time of it this year, not as complete of a team.
Yeah....well Tony did it while he was in Tampa and he did it the first year coaching the Colts....Then after they get solidly knocked on their ass in the playoffs, he turns around and does it AGAIN the next year..... Survey says: 3rd times' the charm????!? Not likely...

I say if Indy locks up a playoff spot with even one game to go, the starters sit. And they lose the first playoff round they play, again.

The loss of Mike Brown is certainly going to hurt. BS, maybe you can help me out here. Last year when they lost Mike Brown to the calf injury, Chicago's defense took a big hit, namely their secondary. What do you think will prevent the same from happening this year? Hopefully the injury won't be season-ending.

He probably WILL be put on IR, but the Bears drafted a safety Danieal Manning with their first pick this year. That should be the main difference. Also, they got Ricky Manning Jr from Carolina who is great in Nickel situations, unlike an injured Azumah last year. Also, another rookie from last year who was injured came back of the PUP this week, Brandon McGowan... Also, the Bears OTHER 2nd round pick Devin Hester (the punt return guy) is a new corner as well, and our regular corner Charles Tillman is physical and fast enough to play safety. Its pretty ingenious and I dont know if other teams have drafted all "tweeners" like the Bears and had success.
No doubt it hurts to lose a probowler, but I think these new guys will filll in well. Brown was never the best cover guy, but he was great against the run, and no one has really hurt the Bears with the run this year.
Both D. Manning and Hester have sub 4.4 speed.

Interesting development:

From the Bears Offical Site: Chalk Talk With Larry Mayer
Larry: There was some mention that Hunter Hillenmeyer partially blocked the missed field goal at the end of Monday night’s game. Has that been confirmed?

Nick
Newport Beach, California

Nick: There’s no mention of a deflection in the official statistics, but I asked Hunter Hillenmeyer after the game and he told me that Neil Rackers’ errant 40-yard field goal attempt in the final minute of the fourth quarter did in fact graze off his fingertips.
...so it was blocked.

By the way, Mike Brown was indeed placed on IR today. Out for season.

Great play in that case--field goals blocks are teh sh1t.

Hopefully you're right about replacements for your boy Brown, as I'd hate to see them lose to Carolina again in the playoffs.:happydance:
