What, no love for the Compacts??? There on loan to see if i am really gonna like them before i spend the money for mine. So far i am liking them, finding myself climbing in the big ring with the 11/23 in the back. Looking like Ill be ordering the Sram force set when its time to spend the cash, gonna get the Full groupo when i do!!!
Nah I'm just kidding. I was actually thinking of getting compacts for base training for the hills, so I can still climb and spin a 90 rpm cadence while keeping my heartrate low. I've actially used those cranks and liked them.
Ok, update. Took the carbon compacts off. Didnt really like the overall feel. Great for climbing, very smooth, very stiff. But hi speed decents just felt a little too low of a gearing, even with the 11 in the back. Glad i got them on loan before i dropped the cash to find i didnt like them.

Yeah, i just put the 105's on, 53/39. feels good. Triple was 53/42/30 and i have been climbing in the 42, the 30 on the compacts was just too low for my climb, and the 50 just wasnt quite enough on the decent. The 53 is perfect, nice to know where i can go bigger if/when i need
Were riding angelous oaks on wed night if your intersted
Wouldnt say they arent worth the money, I will probably go back to them in some years down the road when my knees can no longer handle the stand up and grind anymore
No worries. I use their Epic stuff myself, big fan.
Getting back on the subject, I actually love the compact cranks, personally. But then again I tend to get along better with gravity when we're working together. That and I can generally coast downhill faster than my slighter riding partners can spin their 53-11s. The help I need is on the ups...
That, and I like being able to run pretty much whatever crosschain in the back and not worry too hard about f'ing something up...
Sweet crank with carbon fibre spider! Some LBS here been selling OEM FSA quite cheap I've been thinking myself sometime whether I should venture into compact crankset
