I realize sizing a bike is a personal preference, however does anyone have any hard fast rules of thumb for sizing an 08 Specialized Demo DH rig? I am 6' tall and 210lbs.
The 06 demo8 ran fairly large in sizing, and I think anyone upto 6ft would have been very comfortable on a medium (46.x wheelbase, and short chainstays made for a lot of space up front). For 07/08, they moved the sizing down a scale, which made things even more whack. The 07/08 small has roughly the same sizing as the 06 medium. That means that the 07/08 medium is a pretty sizeable bike (check the geo chart for exact details), and the large is absolutely massive. Ride both if you can and decide for yourself, but if you can't, get the medium.
Yep, Udi is right.
I have buddies that are 6'2 and fit well on the 08 medium frame.
I am 5'10 and the 06 medium demo 8 fit me perfect, but my 08 medium was way too big and long. I should have gotten a small.
At 6'0 I would not even consider the large for sure.
I agree with Udi also, im around 5'9" and ride a small, i wouldnt want anything longer. Its a pretty long bike. But i suppose this is also a personal preference.
I'm just under 6' (like really only just) and a medium 07 demo 7 was the largest bike I ever felt comfy on. For comparison I am comfy on a large Giant DH, a medium vpfree, a large v10, a 19" sunday and I am in between a large and a medium giant glory and cant seem to get comfy on either! I think you would have to be much taller and REALLY like big frames to want a large Demo.
I'm 6' and 195 and I love my medium '07 demo. I swear it is shorter (TT) than my '05, but the site says otherwise and my 06 ain't 'round here no more to check. Anyway- it fits good.
