I surfed the mtbr forums for the first time today, and I noticed a big difference between the posts here and in their NorCal forum. Anyone noticed the difference?
I read both sites. Mtbr.com's regulars strike me as an older crowd than those on this board. A lot of them have more than one bike, and some of them seem pretty hardcore. There was a ride report for SDF where one group did four loops in one day. Stuff like that just leaves me shaking my head in wonder.
Definitely an older/xc-am crowd on mtbr. Good guys to ride with, but don't show up for a group ride on a big hit rig and expect to many others to be on the same type of bike. Most will bring xc bikes or 5" trail bikes. Nothing wrong with that though.
Honestly a lot of bay area trails favor the trail bike. Very few require a dedicated dh or fr rig.
