Can I run your crank set on a 2011 Demo? The complete frame uses a custom 83mm pressfit bottom bracket, but I can't figure out what to do with the frame option.
Adapters for pressfit BB-30 and other variations (BB95?) are in the works. We'll be releasing a lot of new info at Interbike in two weeks. Can I run your crank set on a 2011 Demo? The complete frame uses a custom 83mm pressfit bottom bracket, but I can't figure out what to do with the frame option.
The production crankset is the gold Ti-Ni as shown in the picture. The prototype versions (green and red) used other coatings that look cool but are not as durable long term...the gold Ti-Ni ended up being the best/longest wearing option. The DH cranks use a steel spindle, which of course you cannot anodize like you could with the aluminum spindle on our XC cranks.Question #2
On the website the spindle is gold, but in some of the Decline shots (U.S. Open maybe?), the spindle came in red and orange. Will this be a production option?
To put it shortly, we're working on different bottom bracket setups...BB30 and PF30 are a bit simpler as we use a 30mm spindle already...BB92/95 (Shimano) would be a bit trickier as they use a smaller spindle (24mm).Question #3
Are these cranks compatible with PressFit BB of any other brand? Same problem like the guy, who started this thread. I have ordered the new 2011 Specialized Demo 8 frame, but I don't wanna use adapters/external BB cups combo. I'd like to make use of the PressFit standart and have the BB fully hidden in the frame. Thanks

Ah, you beat me to it. Sicklines has one of the first "first looks" with the production DH cranks (available now).
Oh my. You guys are pretty crafty. The PF30 adapter cups aren't quite in yet...but they should be showing up soon. We are making seperate adapter "kits" for pure BB30 and PF30 (two standards).Question #3: Will the XC cups work until the bb30 cups are ready?

I had similar drag when I first installed it. Rode one weekend and then took it off to check, thinking it may have just been a break-in issue. The drag was still there so I called e13. I spoke with Phil and he suggested I may have too much bearing pre-load. I took out one of the spacers, and it's perfect now.Hey guys,
I was wondering if the torque specs for tightening the crankarm are exact?? I followed the instructions very closely when I install my DH crank on my bike back in early May, while installing it I was generous with the grease and put in the exact number of spacers and the wavy washer and then torque'd the crankarm to spec. There was a slight amount of drag but nothing to be worried about.... I haven't had the most time to ride this summer, so the crankset only has around 3-4 ride weekends on it, Earlier today I disassembled the crank to check everything out(bearing drag has gotten worse over the last ride weekend) and to my discovery, the bearings are almost completely gone, they feel very rough and are not up to what I expected when I first bought the crankset. What complicates my situation even more, is that the 2 distributors up here in Canada do not stock the BB that I need, nor can they get it...
I bought this crankset to replace my old RF Atlas FR, and I thought that crank chewed through bearings... Did I possibly over-torque the crankarm during installation, even-though I followed the instructions and torque specs??
Any info/help would be SUPER appreciated!! Apart from the bearing issue, I LOVE the crankset!! So incredibly stiff and made the installation with my SRS+ a breeze!

Not sure. I have a 175mm in the 68/73 version.Does the DH crank come in a 175mm x 83mm bb?
Or is the longest crank made for the 83mm bb only 170mm?
Hey Dump, Thanks for the reply and info!I had similar drag when I first installed it. Rode one weekend and then took it off to check, thinking it may have just been a break-in issue. Not sure what to suggest if your bearings are already shot. I suggest giving e13 a ring.
Rout,Hey Dump, Thanks for the reply and info!
After I got back from a Quebec trip a month and a half ago, the crank had a whole lota drag with one spacer and the wavy washer with everything greased and torqued to spec. Since then I tried taking out one spacer and just have the wavy washer and I torqued the arm down to minimum torque spec and it still feels way to stiff. Im ready to buy a BB, but since both of our distributors in Canada dont have any... leaves me in a bind.
I sent tech support an email last night so Ill be expecting a answer from them in the next few days... Hopefully with good info.
Hey Phil,Rout,
Today is a bit weird because I'm traveling to Petaluma (currently in airport), but we should be able to get this figured out. Its odd that Lambert and Norco aren't carrying BBs...they're definitely available.
The DH cranks in 73mm come in 165, 170 and 175, and the 83mm shell version comes in 165 and 170. Bikes are so low these days that a 175mm on a proper DH rig may be risking it.
Cheers,
philip
I'm running the e-thirteen DH crankset with an ISCG old bike with the original LG1. No probs with fitment.Hi, can i instal these cranks on frame with ISCG old? Or Is the diameter of the BB too big, to go thru the hole on the LG1+ ? Thanks
It's possible, however it will depend on which BB and backplate combo you're running. We've got a new BB lineup which uses angular contact bearings, redesigned shield labyrinth and more machining on the back side of the tool contact area. These will work rather well with the older generation e*thirteen ISCG-OLD backplates. We've also added a chamfer to the newer ISCG-OLD backplates which will help fitment with the first generation BB's.Hi, can i instal these cranks on frame with ISCG old?
