So I got to pedal my new Elka shock finally around. The shock feels fabulous except for one thing. It makes a high pitch squeak sound during rebound. Is this normal for the shock?

that is normal for the older version of the valving. Contact Elka to get the latest valving. Unless you're sure you have the latest valving, in which case contact Elka...
mine felt that way too. I believe its just the oil flowing through the circuits. I have had a few forks sound that way too.

The Elka is the newer version of the valving. I was told after a couple of rides, the shims start to break in and the noise disappears.
That very well may be the case. Give it awhile and if it doesn't stop hit them up with some questions.
Yep, I'd give it a few rides to break in. If the noise is still there Elka will take good care of you.
The noise goes away fairly quickly, its nothing to worry about. I kinda liked the sound though after I got used to it, but then it went away.

well maybe becuase I was not aware of this, until I called up Elka...
some people need reassurance of things. my elka did the same thing. It made the noise for a hand full of rides til it broke in. Now its buttery smooth. Congrats on the purchase. You will like it a lot
I have used my shock for around three months and it is still squeaking but mine is the old stup I think.
Also is anyone else having dramas with the spring rubbing on the shock body? Mine has got some solid rub marks on it.
