Holy crap! Not sure how much of that work you did your self, but it's awesome!
I did most of the work myself as far as the rough-in part. I set the cabinets with the guy who built them, and did all the plumbing. I subbed out the tile, electrical, drywall. I set the appliances and trimmed out some of the lighting fixtures.

Awesome job!!!

Doesn't look like it was a cheap renovation though.
It wasn't too bad. Cabinets are custom built with 3/4" Maple plywood boxes. Solid maple doors & fronts, custom dyed & hand applied glazed. 18x18 travertine for the floors and what ever Julie picked out for the backsplash, all I know was that band on the backsplash was $38 a piece for a 10" section. Notice how there is NO plugs throughout the backsplash? We did plug mould strips under each cabinet.

I like the stove.....I'd like the cabinets without the detailing(?) in them.

You went from really dark to really lite in color.

looks great. i am totally jealous of the stove.

we got by w/o having to have an outlet cut into our island; the inspector never picked up on it, and we didn't want to ruin the look of the wood. we're not gonna have any electrical appliances there anyway, aside from the disposal and that's hard wired, w/ the switch in the small pulldown drawer in front of the sink.

You understand the reason there is supposed to be an outlet in an island, don't you?

Not to mention that if the island is fixed, it is a requirement of the National Electric Code as well...

Brian,

What was your budget on your appliances with the exaust hood and disposer?

as i understand it, it's to remove any tripping or other hazards associated w/ power cords being used, no?

i've got plenty of non-island counter space for my electrically-powered appliance needs, so this was a moot point for me. if i've missed an important point somehow, i'm curious as to what it would be.

That's pretty much it. You don't want cords going across a walking path when Miles & Otis are chasing each other through the kitchen and get clotheslined knocking the toaster into the sink.

well aware of this, but didn't want to mar the beautiful expanse of maple to put in an ugly outlet when i knew i'd never need to use it.
