I currently have an 08 Specialized bighit 1 with Marzocchi z1 sports on it im
looking for a dual crown. I realized that the big hit frames are only made for
forks with 7.9 inches of travel. Do you think i could get away with putting an 8 incher on it or would it overload the frame?

Youll be fine with an 8 in. your talking a tenth of an inch. Dont sweat it, and go for it

888 is a decent and reliable choice. I would personally get a Boxxer Team though. The Travis can be had for cheap and they are great when they work. Keep up on the maintenance and it should work out for you.
