Is frame size more personal preference as opposed to what theoretically fits? I'm 5'11" and thinking either a 21.5 or 22 will fit?

Im the same height and Ive ridden frames of both sizes. Anything shorter than 22" can feel really cramped at times. I like the extra room, especially since I have always had my front tire buzz my toe on x-ups and barspins and it drives me nuts. Go with the 22, you wont regret it.

It's personal preference though.... look at all the 6'+ dudes riding 21" BMX bikes....

im thinking a 22" mtb dirt jumper is roughly equivalent to a 21"tt bmx because of the slant/angle of the top tube and the seat tube angle. i agree with FR, a 21.5"tt mtbmx can feel very cramped if you're tall.
