Once upon a time my wife and I used to ride everywhere together....Brian Head, Bootleg Canyon, Gooseberry Mesa, etc. She was progressing and becoming quite a skilled rider up until............childbirth.

Since my wife had my son 4 years ago, she has not ridden very in much due to the obvious rigors of motherhood. She is a very selfless girl who sacrificed many of the things that were/are important to her so that I may keep doing my thing and so that my son is well cared for.

That is why I love her and now its payback time.

We've decided to make a dedicated effort to get her back into riding one way or another and it all starts with the new bike I built for her......
I'm finally getting my bestest riding bud back after 4 years......I'm stoked!

I ride a VP-Free for everything down here. Trail, DH, whatever....... I like big bikes.

When I started to put this thing together I showed her a bunch of 6" bikes that I thought would be good for her......nope. She wanted a VP-Free like mine..........she wants she gets.

Its built up on the lighter side of the scale so it'll still be good on the trail.

Beyond that........we hate the GA and we're moving back to the West Coast next year.

Dancin' over rocks n' roots!
Damn!!! You should be talking to my husband 'cause I would  a new VPFree. I'm about to have to give up riding with my man for a while as I am pregnant and it's going to be tough, but I am sure our child will be worth it. We've already started talking about a riding schedule for next summer so we can both get out and do what we love...I guess I got me the right man because he's worried that I won't be able to ride as much and I haven't even had to stop riding yet! :D

It can get real hard at times and my poor wife is such a warrior who loses lots of sleep, but it moments like the ones pictured below that are the reward.

My son won't be 4 for another month and he's already sans training wheels......(sniff sniff)...I'm getting misty.

Wow! Looks like he can handle his bike pretty well :thumb: I love that third shot. I am looking forward to seeing my child pedaling around...regardless of how many sleepless nights it takes to get there :D

its good that you treat your wife that way and she reciprocates. I got my wife into riding...she turned pro and divorced me. My lesson learnt is never mess with girls who ride. Hopefully your situation turns out way better than mine.

BTW thats a nice bike you got her. Hopefully she appreciates it.

Wow, Eio...do you have a single brother who lives in SoCal?!? :) LOL. Really, those are some of the nicest things I've ever heard a guy say about his riding partner/wife. Very cool and hats off to you for treating her like a queen! :)

And Jamsoul...for the record, not all girls who ride are evil.

The maiden voyage was this weekend.

No actions shots cuz as a part of the plan we trade off taking my son for his ride but all in good time.

So far she loves the VPF and couldn't stop giggling about how much better a ride it was than her old GT XCR. She was a little winded from the being out of practice and this damn Southern heat, but she had 2 good rides this weekend and a little street session last night.

I'm really happy that she had a good time and she digs her bike so much................mission accomplished.

Now let's go shred! :thumb:
