I have the option to buy a 2006 trek fuel ex7 for $800 or a 2011 giant Yukon fx for $850.

I know the Yukon comes with cheaper parts but I wonder if it's better to start off with a newer frame and upgrade as I go or get the older 06 trek fuel ex7.

Ok scrap that though, I just came back from a local bike shop and the Yukon is a toy compared some other bikes.

the Yukon is a entry level frame at a cheap price. the frame is decent but like you said, the parts are cheap. its not really a "freeride" frame

I think I am just going to bite the bullet and drop some real cash on a Real good bike.

I love giant bikes but the yukon is kinda bleh. for a few more dollars the trancex4 is a great bike with lots of room to upgrade parts. ive put 3k plus miles on it since i got it in jan and stock shes been real good to me
