Put in a band you like, let it play, discover new bands. /thread
Have you given Syd Barrett's Floyd a go?Damn! Theres some good stuff here!
I've Youtubed all of these suggestions so far and I think I'm going to look into all of them.
I'm pretty impressed with you lot. Awesome music here! Even skinnymike's Gangster Rap is good. Rep where rep is due (except you TN & Stevew, I have to spread some round first!).
best 'lost record' find of the year by far. 'politicians in their eyes' is so damned good.Death (the '70s punk one, not the later metal band)
Shrinebuilder is out now too.Earthride
Pentagram
Hidden Hand
Witchcraft

...not really death metal, maybe more rockish sabbathy stuff.
blue scholars, great suggestion, thanksI've been on a rap tear for a bit.
Common Market
Blue Scholars
Lupe Fiasco
Atmosphere
Blackalicious
Dead Prez
Jurassic 5

Death (the '70s punk one, not the later metal band)

Skindred
i think Bonobo is better than any of those.Unkle (war stories and psyence fiction), DJ Shadow, thievery corporation, kruder and dorfmeister
I'll agree that Psyence is more of an acquired taste...as in if you like shadow, you'll like psyence, and if not, you won't...i have _Psyence Fiction_...haven't heard _War Stories_.
i think the best thing they've done is that _Ape shall never kill ape_ single.
_Endtroducing_ is really good, and i like the stuff that DJ Shadow lent to the Headz comps, but i think he ran out of steam.I'll agree that Psyence is more of an acquired taste...as in if you like shadow, you'll like psyence, and if not, you won't...
War stories is more rock than sampling/hip hop...it's honestly a completely different sound than Psyence, and fairly far removed from Never, Never...
Their best might be contained in the "do androids dream of electric beats" series....which is rad.
Good call. I actually meant to put him in my first post and just forgot.RJD2
From a conservative finance guy, this is a funny list.Pulley, No Use For A Name, Catch 22, The Pogues, Millencolin,
If you're into them, check out Common Market. Same DJ, different MC. Also awesome.i'll second/third the recommendation for blue scholars. very solid pnw hiphop, similar to sweatshop union but not as blowhardy and better flow.
That explains the Hammer n' Sickle =PFrom an conservative finance guy...
this is GOOD SH!TCheck out Pretty Lights -- pretty cool local-ish (to me) DJ. He has all of his music for free online at www.prettylightsmusic.com
*note: To be listened to loud.
Didn't I meet you once? I was the dude who helped get Christian's Commencal back. That explains the Hammer n' Sickle =P
