Dude, between your deer pics and this, you should never have to buy meat in a store ever again!

Here is what I would do.... Go to the craft store and buy some 4mm silk string. Green or brown is the best. Find some sweet clover, usually at the edge of your yard. Pull it up roots and all. Clean off the dirt. Put it in a bag and gently mash it up. Make a generous pile somewhere in your yard. Make a slip knot in a long length of the string and circle it around the pile of clover. The string has to be long enough for you to stealthily pull it and not have it unravel as you do. Duck blinds at the corner of your house will hide you. Once you snare a bird, be careful, the claws will eff you up. Take a broom stick and use it to hold the bird while you break its neck. Dress it like a fresh chicken. As long as you get it on your property it is not poaching.... Eat like a king. Get them now as they will get scrawny over the winter...

In certain states this IS legal.
Simply having a yard does not make it legal, you need to be compliant with hunting regulations or if its native non-game species other than a few pest species like corvids (and its illegal in HI due to crows being endangered there) its illegal to to possess, transport, or export any migratory bird, or any part, nest, or egg of any such bird according to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

You can get special licenses for nuisance animals, but as a general rule you cannot take birds without hunting or special permits.

In CA:

To hunt wild turkey, you must possess a valid California hunting license and an upland game bird stamp. Hunters under the age of 12 may hunt if they have taken and passed a hunter safety course and possess a valid California hunting license.
You can however do what you like to non-native invasive avian species.
