I'm going to build a 150x12 rear wheel with a Hadley hub.
As far as I know, I need the SDH XL 150 hub, but I noticed that number is followed by another number (ex: R7.0, R8.0) Is that important to the model, engagement, etc? It seems like it could just be a run/batch number.

Thanks.

R is for revision. With each revision were some very minor changes. The only huge one was the thread on the axle, which Hadley will provide parts to retrofit older ones.

I think I bought my R2 in '05, so they aren't that old.

So yeah, it doesn't matter.

last two Hadleys I bought, I specified the 72 pt engagement version. same cost as the 36 pt.

other than that, there's not much for you to decide other than number of spoke holes (32 or 36), and the color.

So I think I found a suitable rear hub, yet the seller claims it has a 15mm thru axle. I assumed they're mistaken and meant 12mm, but after asking to double check they insist it's 15mm.

What frames use a 150x15mm rear hub? Can this be right? :hmm:

Yeah, Hadley made some 15mm rear hubs for a couple of weird bikes, like the first generation V10. Keep looking.

i think the old tomac's used them (the 204 mag). a few other oddballs that have been left to the dustbin of history. I think some of the original canfield f1's did.

The axle size doesn't matter. The shell and all the innards are the same. Call Hadley and they will set you up with the parts to convert to 12mm for a very reasonable price.
I bought one off of a v10 for $10 at a swap meet. 30min in the machine shop and I was in business.

but most of the 15mm axles they had in their rear hubs, werent always in a 150mm shell.
They only EVER made 2 shells. A 135 and a 150. The Super 8 and the V10 weird hubs both used the longer shells.
It's the axles that changed and that just happens to be the cheapest part.

therefore: a 150x15 SHOULD be easily convertible into a 150x12 with a new axle.

Time to call Hadley!
Let me just cruise on over to their website and get that phone number .....

I've got a Turner DHR with a 135x15 rear axle. Luckily Hadley was kind enough to send me a 135x12 axle for retrofit so I wasn't stuck with the original Hadley or Razor Rock hub. Just call Hadley up, they'll set you straight.
