How is everybody today?

I guess either Manical got his RM shirt or he had a baby....

Anyway heading to the gym tonight. I started doing some christmas decorating last night, I always enjoy this time of year.

LOL! He actually started a new job today (had the baby last weekend) ;)

Good morning! Should be an easy day for me. Testing during the morning so I have a nice long break to get a bunch of paperwork done :D

I believe I have decided on Sq-Earl's b-day present and just need to place the order so that's an added bonus. Hopefully the big brown truck delivers our nursery furniture tonight so we can get that all assembled. Other than that...not a lot going on today!

Holy crap, Aubrey had a father come in and verbally attack her yesterday during parent teacher conferences. I really need to her to switch to different grade or teach something more specialized. Parents are F'ing nutts!!

Yikes! I had a parent verbally attack me (luckily it was on the phone) once and I refused to speak with him any further. I hope that she went to her principal right away. Things have gotten pretty bad at our school, so we have "team" meetings on students now...basically a bunch of teachers and an administrator have parent conferences together as things have gotten out of hand in the past. :(

What grade is she teaching now?

Mornin'. 56 degrees and a light drizzle when last I checked. Not much going on here at the casino this a.m.. Doing some software upgrades...whoopie! Today IS my Friday though so that's cool. Getting pumped for my first SS ride Friday night. I'll get some pics of the new bike up tomorrow at some point. One of the guys that's riding with me on Friday just built up a Surly Pugsley, complete with 26 x 4" tires. Can't wait to give that bad boy a try!!

Have a good one y'all!! :)

Ah... good to have you back stosh. Those "other" GMT just aren't the same.

I'm good, had a rough start to the morning, but ok other wise. Stopped at a local bagel shop on the way to work this morning to get a bagel sandwich for me and 3 dozen bagels for the office. Got the sandwich made, bagels bagged and the total as about $24. I handed them my credit card, told me they don't take credit cards. I have no debit card and no cash, so here I am with no bagels, still starving, and no sign of food any time soon.

*sigh*

Spoke with a local Jewelry shop yesterday about doing some web work for them. I got a verbal agreement to give their site a face lift and fill in a few holes... pretty basic work, but will give a nice paycheck at the end. Just gotta work up the contract/agreement today and fax it over. The money from that job couldn't come at a better time.

Other than that, not much going on. Hopefully it will get cold over the next few days and firm up the ground a bit - it's very muddy and I want to ride this weekend.

4" tires... talk about rolling resistance!!! Have fun on Friday's ride. I mentioned it to Sq-Earl but he didn't tell me if he's interested or not. I know he's riding first thing in the AM with a friend (they're nuts...go to Stables, ride everything--some twice--before the ground thaws).

She's teaching 3rd.

She has this one kid in her class and he's been a problem child who has suffered a variety of different abuses at home. Anyway she has a very well behaved and moderatly smart girl in her class who's parent's push her way to hard. Anyway the problem child stood up and started to run across the room and in doing so he kneed the "good girl" in the face. Problem was the parents of the good girl had it in for the problem child all year and this gave them an excuse to flip.
Anyway Aubrey had a planned conference with the father and he never showed. Then she had a planned conference with just the mother last night after everybody had left the building and guess who shows up.... the father. She tried to handle it herself and she did good job but I think her feeling we're hurt. She's talking to the principal first thing this AM.

I told her the only mistake she made was not having the principal there. The other problem was her student was there and saw her father verbally assaulting Aubrey.

coming along - it's a very slow recovery. She's definitely better than she was pre-surgery, but still has about 4 weeks of pain/discomfort while the swelling goes down and the nerve heals.

I love doing side work, I thought I had some lined up but I haven't heard back from the people yet.

Good luck with the website.

That's such crap. I'm sure there are some lousy teachers out there, but since the majority of parents rely on daycare/teachers to raise their kids (parental responsiblity has gone down the crapper), let's have a little more faith in the people who pledge their lives to the wellbeing of our kids.

Keep up the good work Treesaw and Aubrey!

I was about 1 step away from calling in "sick" today. Thing is I never get sick and I actually feel something settling in my lungs.

I'm gonna try to work it out at the Gym tonight though.

Wow! Never a good thing. I am glad to hear that she stood her ground though (especially in front of the student). We run into parents who never show for parent conferences as well...guess it comes with the job. She'll learn (over time) not to take it personally. Hopefully her principal is supportive...otherwise that makes an already bad situation much worse!

Her principal is very good to her but this being only her second year she worries about not being tenured(sp?).

i remeber hearing stories like those from my wife, luckily Marcy loves her class this year. They are all so good... the worst of this years group is far better than anyone she used to have problems with...Her parents are very supportive as well... its so nice to have that... she feels like such a better teacher and is one just because she doesnt have deal with all the problems

LOL! I have found that the teachers who actually worry about not being tenured are the ones that do the most and have the least to fear in that whole process! Having met A. I am sure that she is one of those teachers who consistently goes "above and beyond" to meet and exceed the needs of her students and she shouldn't have anything to worry about :thumb:

With this girl it's funny because these parent's are way over pressuring this girl.

The mother took a job being the greater at the front door of the school just so she could be more involved in her daughter's school and be involved in all the gossip. The father was trying to blame all the wrong answers the daughter got on her test on "the problem child" in Aubrey's class room. The girl is smart and she's getting like 80/90's in class but she isn't prefect.
It's funny though because "the problem child" is actually smarter than this girl and does really well on tests most of the times beating out "the good girl".

You know, it's funny as my kids are pretty good this year too. They are being so kind to me (I am sure it's because I am visibly pregnant now) and are working pretty hard at all but 1 school. God only knows what will happen when I take my leave.

Ah...the over-protective, somewhat "too" involved parents...we have a few of those (surprisingly enough) and they are a pain in the rear to deal with! ;)
