i just got my used hayes hydraulic in the mail today, opened the box, looked in the caliper, and there it is! both the pads in there are stuck together! i cant even get the pads out!
have you tried priyng them apart (gingerly) with a flat screwdriver.. you probably can't pull them out like you said bec there is pressure applied to them (pistons pushed out--engaged). Or did I miss your question entirely..I'm a lil drunk!

Did you pull the lever with the wheel out? ya cant do that with hydralic brakes. your LBS will sell (or if their nice give) you 2 plastic spacers for when you have your wheel out but if your in a bind a picie of cardbord will do. as Ozzer (get your ass back here!)
