Been out of the game for a few years, looking to jump back in so I'm pulling my bikes out of retirement. Needless to say my legs and skills aren't anywhere near what they used to be. I seem to remember reading somewhere in the past that the DHi was designed around a 44t chainring... Any truth to this or am I mistaken? Would it compromise performance if I was to run a smaller ring?
Previous owners please chime in with your thoughts and experiences. Acadian, you used to have a DHi, any insights?

I have had as small as a 36t on mine when I flew some place and could only bring one bike. Then I could ride up an incline. No excessive bobbing. For the most part, I ran a 40T for DH racing. No problems.

Just put whatever ring on it that you want and get back out riding.

Running a smaller cog would make you notice the suspension more, right (i.e. as the bike went over bumps your cog would turn under your feet)? There's a term for this, I want to say pedal kick, but I don't think that is right.
