took the red pill
Here it is, after a long wait. I pulled it out of the box and was like :mumble:

"wtf, an air shock? I was told 20 times, it was gonna have a coil shock"

Quick call to IH and Brad hooked me up. 5th coils are being made as we speak and they're gonna let me keep the 5th air for my aggravation, which was not much, other than the usual with every bike company "march 15th, no, April 30th, no, June 1st"
Oh well, well worth the wait and you could say they hooked me up ha?
IH rules, even though I did bitch a little about the wait, I still will deal with them, I just need to talk to one person over there next time as you always get differing stories with different people. No biggie. I waited and got what I want. This frame rocks, can't wait till I actually get a whole 4 hours to myself, MFT Mother****er (MFT = MY F*****G TIME) to ride it. It is a bit heavy though at 38lbs D' OH.

38 pounds? I don't think your scale is measuring right unless that frame is super heavy. My bullit with super t and dh tires is 39 pounds

38 lbs!? How much does that frame weigh, because the parts, sans the fork, seem reasonable in terms of weight. Nice ride though, I would really like to ride one of those to see what they are like. Nice

Sweet! :thumb:

38lbs does sound a little bit heavy for that build, especially with that uber-light air shock, but regardless of how much it weighs, it looks awesome. Bet it rides as good as it looks, too.

My Azonic Saber was 37-38 lbs. and pretty similiar except for the Romic Coil, Sherman Firefly, Michelin DH tires, and Hydro brakes...

I had on the Weirwolf 2.1's on the last Hollowpoint, these are Nokian Tubleless 2.3's and I think they are close to 1000g. The fork is heavy as hell. I diddn't weigh the frame itself. Maybee I'll try it again, but I do think it's 38 lbs. This is also a beefed up version of the hollowpoint frame, it's got a 1.5 head tube with reducer cups, the pedals are heavy (yeah I know, the aircorps are gonna shatter :dead: )

Actually these pedals supposedly have automobile bushings in them, unlike the prior ones? I disassembled them and stuff the sh*t out of them with grease. Will see how long they last. Things gonna be like 40lbs with the 5th element coil. Like I said, the tires are hella heavy. I will weigh it again though. Thanks for all the kind words. I'm psyched about this bike and if it rides as good as it looks, I'm actually gonna keep it.

Cool bro. I thought you went down hills on those so it should be heavy right? That fork is a ton of the weight though.

*this is not me dissin your new ride. It pimps a close second to dhg's v10.

That bike is wicked pissa! But how did it get to be so heavy?? 40 pounds - that's DH bike-like!

Dayum!
Well.. Most of those components wouldn't look out of place at all on a DH bike... Cranks, wheels, chainguide, 8" rotors, handlebars, stem... That fork is a beast too.

I'm betting it actually weighs more like 35 though.

Well, I'll have to weigh it again tonight. Stosh, the air shock is temporary, and IH screwup. Progressive is making me and others a 5th coil as we speak and they're letting me keep the air shock too. Awesome ha? Believe me, I wish it was lighter.

True Dat!

The frame is meant for DS/MTX right - but if built differently it would make a burly trail bike right?

Let's come up with an alternate build to lighten her up for Knucks - then we can all swoop in like vultures on the parts he'll replace! ;) :D

Ahahaha. Yeah! I've got dibs on the wheelset :D

DW built his up as an aggressive trail bike.. He put a Manitou Minute on it and some lighter components/tires. I think it'd make an awesome mid-weight trail bike but it's certainly burly enough that this 35+ lb. build can be put to good use...

Frame only, limited production, comes with 5th element coil, waiting for it. costs $3800 for frame

Knuckle
holy hell, no way is it $3800 for the frame alone, tahts more then a foes, nicolai, intense, everything. and considering the bike build up weighs 38 lbs, im gonna say its not a reasonable purchase.

I weighed it again tonight, it's 36 lbs, not 38. I don't know what the hell is so heavy on there besides the tires? I got a ti seat, xc cranks and xc gigapipe BB. The fork and tires are what's killin me I guess.

Knuckle
I'll take your fork Knucks and trade you a Talas.

It's the levers that weigh so much. You should trade them for my SD5s off my hardtail, they are super light.

Oh yeah and NICE LEVERS.

I have those on my full squish paired with 8 inch avids and they actually feel like hydros. Just wait till they break in :D

nice ride... have fun with it...
if your up to 38 lbs already would the extra lb for the coil really matter???
